    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

Thanks for your response. Beersmith always calculates the strike temp about 8 degrees higher than mash temp to account for ambient grain temp, and it always seems about 160. As soon as I mash in I lower the target temp to 152. I've always waited 15 minutes to recirc, on this and other systems...

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

Today was my first problem with mash temps, in at least 6 brews. I struck in at the desired temp (160), thoroughly stirred the grain, put the RAPT thermometer in the mash, then waited the usual 15 minutes to set up the grain filter, then turned on the recirc pump, and the temp just kept...

Running the pump on Brewzilla Gen 4

I have a Gen4 65L with the weak a** 5W pump (yeah, wish they'd have set it up with the Green Demon 25W pump... out of stock at the only US dealer), and run it the entire brew day, from mash through boil, chill, and transfer. The only pump problem has been with clogging during the mash from my...

Thanks for your response. Good to know I'm not alone. I was planning on making the hose and having my spare pump as a backup like you do.

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

Has anyone done the suggested "re-plumb" of the pump so the wort runs to the tap before the pump? Kegland's manual suggests this so you can drain the boiler in case of a pump blockage. I made the change, but haven't brewed with this yet, but (duh!) just realized that this eliminates pumping...

I use a counterflow chiller and would like a bigger pump. $15 seems reasonable.

SS Brewtech 3V Electric Complete All-Grain System Purchased new in Spring 2020. This has been a dream setup, but I don’t have room for it in our new house and must sell it. I am downsizing to an all-in-one system, so am keeping my mill, chiller, Steam Slayer, oxygen, and CO2 stuff. The whole...

    Steam condenser stain

Has anyone using a steam condenser noticed a gnarly black deposit on the drain bucket, drain hose, and/or in your boil kettle resulting from the condensate? This is after a typical brew (doesn't matter what kind of beer I'm brewing - light or dark). Comes off with very hot PBW and scrub...

Brand new 2.0" EPDM TC gaskets, pack of 25, $15 shipped

Bought these 2.0" EPDM gaskets (qty. 25) by mistake (instead of 1.5") from Glacier Tanks, and they don't accept returns on gaskets. I don't want to throw them away, but don't have any use for them. Will ship anywhere in the lower 48 for $15. PM me if you're interested (PayPal only).

2V SS Brewtech Brewing System Review Page

Not sure this'll help, but now I remember the first thing I discovered about the MLT PID, which was that it was not set to function as a PID. To fix this, go to 1.3.1 in the manual (the page before the 1.3.2 autotune page you posted a screenshot of). Then, read the "Basic Operation" (Chapter...

2V SS Brewtech Brewing System Review Page

I was having this same problem on my MT PID, and then found a complete manual for the OMROM E5CC and realized it was set to Self tune every time. I turned that off, then did the autotune, and it's worked perfectly since. I felt ecstatic after figuring this out, like I could control the gizmo...

    losing yeast through airlock/blowoff tube

Yeah, I'm with you. I'll read the Yeast book on it, but $10 for a fresh pack of Imperial vs. risking 10 gallons is just plain dumb. Thanks for your input.

    losing yeast through airlock/blowoff tube

The equipment was all sanitized. I ended up swirling it all up with the Star San and putting it in a sanitized Mason jar, filling it with RO water and capping it. I don't harvest yeast normally, but it looked so clean and smelled so good. It's in the fridge. Do you think I can decant and pitch...

    losing yeast through airlock/blowoff tube

So I just checked my blowoff bucket and there's all this beautiful creamy yeast in the Star San. Is this harvestable? (Stupid question?) Seems a shame to get rid of such energetic buggers...

    Adding oxygen to yeast starters?

Thanks. I've been oxygenating the wort in-line on its way from BK to fermenter, but I've always been irritated by the wort leaking out of the o2 stone barb into the o2 line after I shut off the o2. I'm wondering if oxygenating in the fermenter (once all the wort's in) would be as effective, thus...
