    GABF 2010 thoughts

Dogfish Head was hands down the best brewer there....in my book anyway. Midas Touch and Chateau Jiahu (I think that's what it was) were absolutely amazing. I was hesitant at first given the Jiahu was made from sake, but it was well worth the long wait in line. I wish there was a better way to...

    The 'Keezer' Project

Yours turned out way better than mine did. Of course mine is more of the penny savers version lol. No stone or lights for me. I went with a cheap false granite laminate too keep the weight down. I wish I had more tools than a few screw drivers and a chop saw too! No joke I had to measure a few...

    My Lord it stinks!!!

Holy hell....I've never used WL German wheat yeast 333 before, and man was I surprised when I walked into the house yesterday. The entire back of the house smelled like rotten eggs/sulfur! That is to say, that's what it smelled like to me anyway. My friends I had over on the other hand found...

    Help!!! I've Been Robbed!

My suggestion......have your wife fill the keg with lots of chocolate goodness and set it outside. Then try not to laugh when the theif attempts to run off with the keg only to have his ass beat down by your wife! LOL No man can separate a woman from her chocolate. Guard dog? Hah! Guard wife!

    Attention new all grain brewers!

Lol! Maybe I should read the entire thread before posting next time. That said, what are some solutions rather than preventative measures to other common problems? For example, when I first started AG, I would always come out way under my desired mash temp. In a frantic mess, I would run back...

    Attention new all grain brewers!

Im no scientist, but with a larger cooler, you have more surface area to work with. Wouldn't that increase your thermal mass, thus requiring a higher strike temp?

    Best DUI ever

+2 Sad thing is I've seen people get maced or tazered for less. Still doesn't mean I didn't LMAO. "Uh, sir...there's no store up that way"

    Morning Beer

Who let this guy in? ;) On a serious note though, The tangeray rule of "always in moderation" is never left out. I can't afford to be drunk all the time, so rarely do I ever reach such an intoxication level. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a hot shower and a cold beer waiting for me. :rockin:

    Morning Beer

Maybe it's just my college youth, but morning beer IS my routine. Unless, of course I have to be to work early in the am. Wake up, kill any wounded soldiers. If none are still on the battle field, pour a pint. Drink pint in shower, brush teeth, get dressed, etc. I mean....come on! It's beer or...

    Absenthe Beer?

Also note that absinthe is traditianally consumed by adding two sugar cubes to the drink and diluting 1 part absinthe in 5 PARTS WATER. That right there tells me people are thinking " this stuff tastes like a$$, but it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I think I'll do my best to cover up...

    Lets talk Stouts/Nitro

It's still a work in progress.....The finishing hops can probably go, and I think it could use a bit more chocolatie goodness. Also might modify the grain bill just to get a higher potential gravity for alcohol content. My OG have been around 1.050 and finish at 1.016. Feel free to scrutinize...

    Chocolate Mint Stout Question

Don't know if this thread is dead already or not, but here it goes anyway. I too have a choc mint stout. This is the second time I've made it, and I use 3/4 - 1 oz of dried peppermint leaves. I just pop em in a hop sock and throw it into secondary for 7-10 days. It comes out just the way I like...

    Lets talk Stouts/Nitro

I hear you brother. I have a choc mint stout about to go into secondary. It's one of the best crazy concoctions I've ever come up with, and yet fails to get the same creamy, frothy pour Young's and Guinness have. I have a special stout tap on order, but I think it's only a waste of money at this...

    New Keezer Questions

I purchased my 2'' shanks from the beverage factory. I took a quick measurement to double check, and indeed, the threaded part of the shank is 2''. Total length of the shanks is 3.5''-4''. If you only have to make it through 1 1/2" plywood, you should be fine with some 2" or 3" shanks.

    The 'Keezer' Project

Mmm indeed my friend. That's what the freezer repair guy said as well. I guess the real question is how much power is being wasted. Guy didn't seem to think it would be too significant, but since I decided to forego the ductwork and only use spacers, I'd like to see how much power jester's...

    Show us your Kegerator

Nice indeed. I noticed there is a gap between the plywood and the sides of the freezer to allow for some airflow. Did you liquid nail those 2 x 4 spacers to the side of the freezer? Also, how much does that lid weigh?
