    So who's brewing this weekend?

Brewed last weekend. It was a Pale Ale until I loaded it up with orange peel to get a nice copper tone so guess we'll just call it an American Ale

    Spring 2024 Corny Keg Giveaway

My most recent is an Oktoberfest. I actually just tapped the keg Sunday after a few months of lagering.

Help Me Build My Home Brewery Setup on My Budget.

I went with the 20g for my 10g batches. It hit that price point he was looking at. I wonder if I can find the old order total I paid Edit: found it. Paid $3514 in 2022 for the 20 gallon solo system, CF10, tc100 and leg extensions, shelf brace for cf10 and casters. Oh and a sight glass. Prices...

Help Me Build My Home Brewery Setup on My Budget.

Like a legit Igloo style cooler? Yes. I did it for a little while. The TC100 has a submersible pump and you'd just put it in there. The PITA with the cooler is you need to be constantly changing the ice out because of it melting. It wasn't bad while I was just maintaining fermenting temps...

You can get the full Solo setup with a CF10 and cooling kit for a little shy of $4k. Thats not including a glycol chiller though

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

What your picture shows is what I end up with. My pic below is how it goes into the fermenter.

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

Unsure of PH. Using spring water so it’s most likely 7. Water hasn’t changed from what I have used. You really have me curious about the conversion and now I’m ready to brew again to see if that’s it. Thermometer is accurate. Test with multiple. The info you guys are giving me is more than...

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

That is another test. Going to get a blow off cane with TC so I can put a valve on it and shut when done so I can still do my closed transfer via PRV without removing the blowoff and introducing oxygen.

Thanks. Will do that next brew. I guess if that happens to be the case, I have to do a longer mash?

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

One thing I didn't think about, but maybe the cause? I do starters using Proper Starter. At 5 gallons, it would be only 1 can of proper starter. I'm using 2 more more (yes, I am doing it the cheating way). Could the proper starter wort be a culprit being the quantity has increase by at least...

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

No. Single step mash. Only difference I can pick out in mash is the GF recirc tube was below the liquid surface. The Spike system recirc arm is above the liquid.

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

Yes. Exact malt just scaled up in quantity for the larger batch size.

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

I do not notice any astringency. The part that triggered my curiosity is that both of these recipe's have been done multiple times prior when I used my 5 gallon system. The only real big change was pressure during the fermentation process. Same grain bills, same hops, same yeasts, just larger...

Trying to figure out why my beers haze during fermentation and don't clear during crash

I'm kind of stuck as I can't figure out why now I can't get my beers to clear during a cold crash. I have brewed 2 beers that stayed hazy that previously have been very clear. Now the changes: Originally brewed and clear: Grainfather LHBS milled the grain (unsure of gap) 1 Whirlfloc tab at...

No activity after 12 hours using a yeast starter

Curious to see an update from OP and if he got everything sorted.

    Cooler for temp control?

Same here. Did a cooler, but ice melted too quickly. I did it twice and said to heck with it; bought a Glycol Chiller.

    Grain storage

They come in quite often. When I've seen them OOS, within a few weeks they are back. At least that is how its been. I've purchased 5 so far.

    Grain storage

They come and go, but at the time of posting, were $25.

No activity after 12 hours using a yeast starter

No worries. I'm sitting around 5psi. I don't use too much pressure.

No activity after 12 hours using a yeast starter

Others mentioned...... TIme I did my Oktoberfest Sunday and just started seeing pressure in my tank yesterday (I'm pressure fermenting so no bubbles until I hit my set pressure). Granted I'm fermenting a lager and 50 degrees so type and environment playing a role.
