    Oster Kegerator

Can't say anything about 6 months, but the 2 that I bought 3 months ago are holding up so far. I guess it's time to go knock on some wood having said that. Storm

Teufel, Thanks for the encouragement. If you decide you want to come ALL the way down to Parker for a brewday you're more than welcome. Storm

    First all grain tomorrow

The first all grain is done. It was a relatively uneventful day. I got started at about 2 in the afternoon, a couple of hours later than I wanted, but no big deal. I got my keggle filled and onto the burner warming up the mash water. I put 3 gallons of 175F water into the mash tun and let...

    First all grain tomorrow

I haven't bottled a single bottle of beer......yet. SWMBO decided that I had behaved myself long enough to warrant an ultimate starter kit for Father's Day. I say yet because I got a counter pressure filler with a bunch of other stuff I found on CL. I'm gonna start bottling some of my brews...

    First all grain tomorrow

Just so you know, this is all YOUR fault!!!! I'm going to brew up a Scottish Heavy all-grain kit from Austin Homebrew (that's for Forrests' sanity) tomorrow. I've read up on Bobby M's all-grain primer and I've turned off the perlicks in the basement, so I'm expecting an uneventful brew day...

Quck Disconnects and Gas Hose Size Difference

The way I have mine set up is with 5/16" hose and 1/4" barbed QDs. I haven't noticed any leaks at the connection at all. I cranked down the hose clamps pretty good as well. Hope this helps.

    blue beer?!?

Here is a link to a patent application for making clear beer (SRM < 0.5). Apparently you need to use activated charcoal in the boil. (WO/2006/046879) METHOD OF MAKING COLORLESS AND ARTIFICIALLY COLORED CLEAR BEER

what is the small tube on the side?

Wildwest...I need you to inform SWMBO that I do in fact have a great mind. She doesn't seem to believe me for some strange reason.:D

what is the small tube on the side?

I believe what you are referring to is a sight glass. It shows you the liquid level inside of a kettle.

Take the next step into Kegging?

    Stupid slow connection.

Take the next step into Kegging?

Niko sells kegs???? Didn't know that. I just ordered 4 from Adventures in Homebrewing. Would have got them from Niko had I known. Niko = nikobrew.com

    My 1st cornie

Good point on the line size Ben. I wish I had known that before I ran 4 lines from my taps to my kegs. I can fill a pint glass (with foam) in about half a second right now.

5 to 6 days before shipping from AHS?!!

Here's the thing that I have noticed, being that this is the first time I placed an order with AHS. It may have taken 4 or 5 days for them to ship out my order, but it will still gets to my house in the same amount of total time (from order placement to delivery) that it takes to get an order...

Elm...I am in the same boat. After this 1st experience I will go with MW from now on.

    Oster Kegerator

I wish I had seen that earlier. It would have made my connections a LOT easier. Thanks for the link.

    Oster Kegerator

I ran all of my lines through the tops. Mine are installed under my bar, so I have no issues of being able to see the lines.

    Oster Kegerator

Yeah. I actually ordered one online for $209, then when I got to the store they gave me the lower price.

    Oster Kegerator

Just an update for those for you wanting an Oster 5 CF. Best Buy has put these on clearance (at least in the Denver area). I picked up 2 of them for $183 each with tax.

First brew is done and I have a question.

I bought the whole kegging setup off of Craigslist for next to nothing. It needed a lot of work to get everything up to snuff, but I thought it was well worth my time. The kegs actually had beer in them that had been there for over a year and a half. sjl: That's exactly what I was...

First brew is done and I have a question.

I don't think that there is a leak anywhere. I've held the taps under water and don't see any bubbles. I've also sprayed the posts and connectors with soapy water and didn't see anything there either. The beer is pretty foamy, just doesn't have the "body" that I thought it would.
