    Sundew Yeast

I just received this response from Lance the owner of Omega yeast about Sundew. "Sundew can definitely kick off a ton of sulfur during fermentation (its parent strain, Belgian A, does the same thing). Give it a little more time and that should condition out. Everything else sounds on point...

    Sundew Yeast

Thanks for the information. I did my normal 1 minute with pure O2 and added nutrient in the last 5 minutes of the boil. I did add .5 lb of raspberry honey in the boil which is the only thing I did differently than my typical beers. OG was 1.044 so I didn’t use a starter and the yeast was only a...

Ok interesting. Maybe I have something else going on. Time will tell. Thanks.

    Sundew Yeast

I'm on day 8 of fermenting a Blonde Ale with Sundew at 70 degrees and it is still putting off a strong Sulphur smell even though it appears to be almost done fermenting as the krausen has almost dropped. I know it's parentage is OYL-024 which is a Belgian yeast so I expected maybe some rotten...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Great thanks for the info. I'll post if I get anything from it in a simple blonde with hints of Huell melon, Strata and HBC 630.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hey there. I'm currently fermenting a Blonde with Sundew and was curious if you got any yeast character out of it? It's currently on day 2 at 70 degrees and my basement smells like rotten eggs! This yeast produces one of the biggest Krausens I've ever had. Thanks

    Sundew Yeast

What temperature did you ferment it at? Curious as a couple videos imply the warmer it goes the more berry notes.

Virginia stafford, spotsylvania, king george or fredericksburg

Hey just seeing this post. I live in Fredericksburg about half way between Highmark and Red dragon. There is a stafford homebrew club here but I don't think it's very active.

Omega Sundew - Incapable of Producing Phenolics

I thought the same thing. Very excited about it too!

Omega Sundew - Incapable of Producing Phenolics

Any updates on how this turned out? I'm currently fermenting a hazy IPA at 66 degrees with a mix of verdant yeast and sundew. Curious if you got any of the flavor notes Omega claims it makes. Thanks

    Tribute Tribute (St. Austell)

I didn't, however I went with what I posted and recall the beer being pretty good.

Wyeast 1318 - krausen dropped in 2 days

Will check when I get home but believe SG was 1.045, OG of 1.054. Pitched and held at 67 degrees. I’m still getting airlock activity but only about a burp every 5 seconds.

Wyeast 1318 - krausen dropped in 2 days

Brewed an American brown ale with homegrown dried chinook hops added at FWH, 30, 10 and 5 of a 90 minute boil. I pitched a 1 liter starter and had vigorous activity within 10 hours. The krausen only got to about 1 inch and completely dropped by day 2. Has anyone ever experienced this with 1318...
