    This is awesome! I did 10 gallons. I screwed up on the hops and switched the dry hops with the hops that were boiled. I thought I had totally screwed up. This beer turned out to be the best I've made. 5 gallons were gone within 2 weeks, and everyone, even drinkers whom dont like an IPA love...

    Cleaning a burbon barrel

    I just got a bourbon barrel from a local brewery. I'm wondering what I have to do to clean it, or do I just pour from my secondary right into it? I want to get something in there asap, as the wood is still very moist, and I live in a very dry climate. Is a bourbon rinse enough to "clean" it...

    How to badly miss your mash temp

    Did the same on my last brew..seems to me, as long as you can get the temp close to the target temp quickly, the brew turns out fine. Cheers!

    can one use vasaline instead? I figure if vasaline can go on a therometer to go up the um.. well you know, :eek:then it should be sanitary to use as a lube for kegs?

    yep it was a kit, unfortuantley i did not keep the ingredients. I did experiment with using 2 different types of hops. harluten, and i think liberty. It only called for liberty. the taste is pungent, not really sour. I'll open another when it chills and give you a better description. Do you...

    I brewed a basic red ale. It seemed to go just fine, and had good flavor right at bottleing. After 3 weeks, I opened my 1st bottle..pretty carbinated, and flavor was so/so. After 6 weeks, still pretty carbinated, flavor is pretty repulsive. I did not do a secondary fermentation..should have of?
