    freezing point of 11% wine?

We're planning a winter cabin vacation and I am planning on bringing a corney keg of 11% cyser. I'm thinking of leaving it outside if the temperature is right. Does anyone know what the freezing point of this brew will be? Many thanks.

Random rant: It's been a loooooong day.

Sorry - just a random rant. I got to work at 8 am. Ate lunch at my desk. No dinner. No real breaks. It's now after midnight. I'm 2 hours into a conference call where I'm being grilled by non-native English speakers in 2 different European countries about complex US transaction law terms . . I...

    Hair of the Dog

I went to the Hair of the Dog dock sale last Saturday in Portland, OR. If you aren't familiar with them, Hair of the Dog is a specialty craft brewer that only makes around 300 barrels of beer a year. Lots of it is aged in bourbon barrels. Most are old world/historical styles and most are at...

2 liter pop $0.75 at Safeway

Yesterday I noticed that Pepsi products are on sale at Safeway - buy 10 or more 2 liter bottles and get a special price of $0.75 per liter. We now have 5 gallons of Diet Pepsi on tap for a whopping $7.50, per SWMBO's request. I know you guys like to make your own . . but that's cheaper than...

    holes in my kegs

So I used to be really into beer back in college . .. then that tapered down to being an occasional/casual drinker. I swear I had six packs that had been sitting in my fridge for over a year. Then in November we finished a basement remodel, which included a kegerator and dual faucet corny setup...

Did I ruin it? - 2 weeks primary, then straight to fridge (in kegs)

I brewed 12 gallons of beer at a brew your own place 2 1/2 weeks ago. It was a Dead Guy clone recipe, plus 3 lbs of dry malt extract and pacman yeast. I just picked it up yesterday. I racked it to corney kegs, brought them home and put them straight into the fridge. One of them is carbing...

    question about sulfites

I'm thinking of trying my hand at making cider and I have a question about using sulfites to control wild yeast and to end fermentation. In all of the commercial bottled ciders I've tried (Wyder's for example), I have a real problem with the sulfur dioxide smell and taste that they all seem to...

    Good thermometer for kegerator?

I'm ordering parts for my first kegerator and I'm wondering where to buy good cheap digital thermometers. I was thinking of building a little control panel outside of the kegerator with fridge and tower temp readouts, fan switch, etc. and would like something with a small remote readout that...

    newbie - recommend built-in kegerator?

Hi folks - I'm a total newbie to home brewing. I brewed a few gallons 16 years ago in college with a kit, but that's it. This site is great. Brewthunda is my real life nickname, so I think I'm pre-destined to become a regular here. Although I'm not quite ready to start home-brewing again, I...
