    Pitched yeast too soon

What temperature did you pitch at and what was the yeast? Initial response is leave it in the fermenter for a couple more days and check the gravity again.

    First brew of lager.

That's definitely under primed for a lager. Presuming you used table sugar you should have doubled the quantity, slightly more for dextrose. When you say demijohns do you mean 2lt plastic bottles? Are the caps designed for re-use? If not they will not retain carbonation. I believe you can add...

    Almost there

That's a great looking set up. Any chance of a link to your Rye IPA recipe?

Dry hops mucking up the brew right before bottling

This method always works for me, the auto-siphon has never got blocked. If you bottle with a bottling wand you need to avoid as much crud as possible as those things get blocked really easily. I never use a secondary, just dry hop in the primary and use the filter on the siphon to transfer into...

Dry hops mucking up the brew right before bottling

British Museum inspiration to start all grain brewing

Today I tried an Egyptian ale at Beer Nouveau in Manchester. Sounds similar to the recipe here, it included dates and grapes but no hops, and was fermented with kveik yeast. Steve at Beer Nouveau is usually happy to answer brewing questions and is pretty active on Twitter so you could try asking...

    Keg growler question

I have always bottled my beer and although I'd like to use corny's I haven't got enough space at home. However my local homebrew shop closed down before Christmas so I acquired various bits of kit as the stock was being sold off. Now I have 2 x 3.6lt kegs, a tap, mini CO2 regulator, corny...

    Cleaning your Bag

I just rinse it in warm water. 30+ brews, no problems. A few beery stains give it a well used quality.

    Greetings homebrewers

Mostly ales, anything from pale and hoppy to dark and malty. I am a big fan of German beers, Alt, Kolsch, Bock, Doppelbock, Helles, Dunkel, etc. It was the warm fermented lager thread that finally inspired me to sign up. I've brewed Alt and Kolsch but never bothered with a lager as I don't have...

Hi there. I'm a longish time homebrewer from Manchester UK. Over the years whenever I've googled anything to do with home brewing this forum comes up so I thought it was about time I joined in.
