    Ashburne Mild and Fuggle SMaSH

Overall I am not very happy with this beer, the first keg is gone, and I just tapped the second. Its a bit darker than expected, and a little fuller than I had wanted. I would not do a SMaSH with this malt again, but I do look forward to brewing with it. One thing that I DO want to try is a...

    Ashburne Mild and Fuggle SMaSH

Brewday went very well. I hit my target gravity, +1, with a 1.067. I ended up with more like an 80 minute boil over 90, but my volume was right on. So, all told it will fit better into "English IPA" than it would have if everything would have been perfect. I will still end up with something...

    Ashburne Mild and Fuggle SMaSH

I have been wanting to do a beer with this malt ever since we got it at Midwest, so after trying to find any info about this malt, other than from Briess, I decided to do a SMaSH and really get a feel for the malt, and to share my results. I will brew this tomorrow, and make an update then with...

We aren't going to make any GF kits, but, we would be happy to switch out any barley based kits with sorghum.

    Help me understand GF Brewing!

Thanks for the input guys, some really good advice. The goal here is to help people make good beer, GF or otherwise. And I work at Midwest, NB is for jerks.

    Help me understand GF Brewing!

I don't post a lot, so let my preface this with this. Thanks! Okay, here's the deal. I work at a homebrew shop, a big one. And lately I have been getting a lot of questions about GF brewing. The only thing I can do is shrug. I know we have sorghum LME, but I don't know how to suggest...

    Hops that smell like pot?

I am not trying to make a pot beer. That's a stupid idea. I just want a beer that is reminiscent, in the hop profile, of marijuana. So far my plan is a simple 2row + crystal malt bill for about 1.100 OG, and about 80IBUs of Columbus/Chinook, then some simcoe towards the end of the boil...

    Hops that smell like pot?

So Im making an IIPA soon, and my buddy asked me to make it smell like weed. Anyone know of any hops, or combos that smell like the good herb? Thanks

What to do with this wort?

You get a bi-monthly mag subscription to Zymurgy, which is a GREAT homebrewing magazine. You also get a 5 gallon batch of 1087 wort, which depending on how you buy grains is worth the 33 bucks your going to spend on the membership. So yeah, well worth it!

    Royal Belgian Stout.

I have never used the WLP550, but I have used Wyeast 3522 and loved it. Mind shedding a little light on the differences? What temp would you ferment at, I want that spiciness, but I don't want too much, so I was thinking start it at 68 and let it get into the low 70s after a day or two.

    Royal Belgian Stout.

No real reason, other than I use MO for all my stouts. Its a habit by now, and I really like the results. Why EKG over Saaz?

    Royal Belgian Stout.

Coined by Black Albert this is a style that I want to brew. But I'm not so sure about my recipe. Any input would be great, but mostly I am seeking advice on hopping and yeast choices. 20# Maris Otter 1# Special B 1# Roasted Barley 1/2# Carafa II or Chocolate 1.5 oz Warrior hops @ 60...
