Does anyone have a brewfather equipment profile for a SS brewtech 1bbl brewhouse I could take a look at?

    Small batch yeast amount

Really? I would think using all of it would not be ideal. Also I'm probably gonna brew a few of these small batches. So if I can save some for future brews that would be cool.

    Small batch yeast amount

I'm gonna brew a small 2 gallon batch this week. I thought I'd make a starter as usual like I would for 5 gal, chill it, decant then measure out 40% by weight to pitch into the 2 gallons. Is that a solid plan? What do I do with the rest? Jar it and put it in the fridge?

    Cold Crash Vessel Sizes

Yeah i have had that happen as well. My starsan jar froze solid pretty quickly. During cold crashing I hang my inkbird probe inside my chamber so it measures air temp instead of beer temp. This stops overshooting and maintains a constant air temperature inside of the chamber

    Cold Crash Vessel Sizes

I have seen this method work well for people. I just want to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Maybe its the height of the two vessels, or their sizes in relation to each other? I have seen people use small mason jars successfully. Which seems odd to me since I'm having trouble with these...

    Cold Crash Vessel Sizes

I use the two vessel method as you can see in the picture. Vodka instead of starsan. The issue I keep running into is no matter how large my vodka vessel is, it drains itself dry. I started my cold crash yesterday afternoon, and this morning I wake up to a dry vodka bottle. How can I remedy this?

Thank you for explaining this. I get it now. This has been a big help for my own understanding

    Beersmith 3 ibu's

Thank you for that explanation. I don't think I made my question clear though. Please bear with me. Now that I have entered ingredient Lovibond numbers into Beersmit3h SRM fields... this recipe now has a color of 9.7 "SRM". But really it is 9.7 Lovibond correct? And my included kit...

    Beersmith 3 ibu's

Changing the SRM values to Lovibond brought the color down from 14.3 to 9.7. So is that 9.7 Lovibond or 9.7 SRM? I'm confusing myself lol. The recipe states an SRM of 8.5... I want to make sure I am comparing the two correctly.

    Beersmith 3 ibu's

2.5 gallon boil seems to be common among extract brewing instructions. With a top off to 5 gallons into the fermentor. I believe the default hop utilization is 100%, which is recommended for most home brewing scenarios under 20 gallons. I find this to be odd as well. But I have read in a...

    Beersmith 3 ibu's

Ahh. Good stuff sir. I did not notice the boil hop utilization box. This recipe did not call for a whirlpool. That brought the IBU's down to 84. The kit IBU's is calculated in Tinseth, which I believe BS3 is also set to Tinseth by default correct? As for the color.. If I understand you...

    Beersmith 3 ibu's

Yes. That was according to the recipe. Matter of fact, almost every extract kit I've ever done states 2.5 gallon boil, with a top off to reach 5 gallon into the fermentor. Increasing the boil volume only increases the ibu's also.
