Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

Clementines would add a slighter sweet flavor I would guess. I would stick with the lemons though. Just get them later and add just the zest of the lemon to the fermentor after primary has slowed down and leave them in there for a week as least.

Just grate it all. It is going into the boil so it will be sanitized.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

I did mostly grain only and not the 50/50 grain/sugar and the ginger perception turned out great. Did you ever try this recipe? How did it turn out with 20 oz. of ginger.

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

You have the idea right with how to deal with the lemons. Grate/peal off the zest, then juice then the rest is the pith. I would leave out the pith as its just a bitter flavor and not a favorable one in my mind and just use the zest and the juice. Also I would use at least 4, maybe even 6 to...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Ginger Ale

Did this as an All-Grain a couple months ago with the 40 oz of ginger. Tastes great with a slice of lemon so the only thing I would change is up the lemons next time. There will definitely be a next time. Probably change it either 4 lemons or maybe just the zest of 4-5 lemons in the boil. I...

    Alton Brown makes ginger ale

There is only one type of ginger as far as I know, but as ginger gets older it loses its spiciness. So make sure you have relatively fresh ginger or you will need to use more of it to get the same flavor. Fresh ginger should be really juicy when you cut it up.

    Aquaponic Hops

You have inspired me WortMonger. Since I already have a 55gallon fish tank set up inside all I have to do is pump some water to a container above it and provide some light. Glad to see you are starting to get some results.

Transfer hop plants from garden to container for long-term

If you can move the ropes that they are climbing I don't see why you would need to cut them. You may need to cut the rhizomes depending on how big they are when you dig them up as brand new rhizomes can only last in a pot for a few years before you need to split them into multiple pots.

    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

I have tried to collect some wild yeast by taking a 500lm flask with ~1.040 wort made from some DME. I placed this out next to my budding hops which are in pots so they are off the ground and left it outside for about 10 hours while I was at work. I did this with two flasks, one just got pretty...

Cream Soda Recipe with vanilla extract

Jeebs or mysteryberto, did you ever get around to make some cream soda? I just listened to a podcast that talked about vanilla beans and how vanilla extract is basically as good if not better then vanilla beans since they use a different bean that has more "vanilla" flavor too it. If you still...

River Tubing with a Cornie Keg

A full corny of water is 45 lbs. I will be keeping an eye on this thread as my friends and I will be hitting up some CO rivers in tubes for multi-day trips. If you let the kegs age for long enough all the yeast should be settled and just take a pint or so out before taking it on the river to...

Cheapest place to get secondary regulators

These look perfect. Thanks. Did you mount these? If so mind posting a picture of how? Would this one be any different? Better or worse? 160 PSI HVLP Air Regulator I like the larger dial is all and that I can see it has a female and male connection. Does the one you sent have two males or one...

    Force Carbing the pipeline

Would probably work. Only think I see as going wrong is that the pressure will vary as the keg empties so it will change the carbonation of the beer over time but if you just do this as a party thing. The change in co2 in the beer will be insignificant. Say if you fill the empty to 10 psi it...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

All that foam is all the carbonation. It's like if you take any carbed beer and shake it in the glass, it will foam up and the beer will be flatter due to loosing the gas into the foam. Did you vent your keg before trying to serve it off the gas? If you try and serve it at 30 psi with only 6...

My dog keeps pissing on my hops!

Dogs like to pee where they can already smell there pee. This is why you water it down so they go to other spots where they have been peeing instead.
