    Fermentation Schedules?

Does anyone have a good general purpose Ale fermentation schedule (or specifically for a brown ale)? Im dedicated to figuring out how to setup my inkbird temp controller for an automated schedule so i can have more repeatable results instead of "it was cold for a bit then i turned it up after a...

    Double yeast pack question

I’m brewing a higher gravity beer that calls for a double starter. But since I’m using dry yeast I figured I would just use two yeast packs. Should I put them in at the same time or use them separately with a few days in between? Both methods make some sense. Thanks, Chaps

    Most brews lately are foamy

Most of my last 6-8 batches have been foamy when poured. Like open the cap and leave it in the sink for about 5 minutes while it foams away, foamy. This was not previously a problem for me but I've changed a bunch of things lately so I'm curious what people think might be the problem. Things...

Humidity and mold in fermentation chamber

I’ve noticed over the past few months that my fermentation chamber gets oddly humid which occasionally leads to mold growing in there. It cleans up easily with starsan and a paper towel but struck me as odd. Is this something others have experienced also? Some details in case it helps...

    Long mash

Would there be any downside to a long mash 3-5 hours? I’m trying to figure out a way to split up my brew day as it takes me about 8-9 hours from beginning to end. I am considering getting the mash going then leaving it, taking care of life, then coming back later to boil, transfer, and clean...

    Smoked flavor/aroma in 'Dark Lager'

I recently brewed the GFHB kit 'Dark Lager' with some small changes to accommodate my kettle size. It was my first time brewing with the Mash and Boil and I can't say the brew day went smoothly as I had alot of problems keeping the temp consistent throughout the kettle during the mash...

    Strawberry Belgian with Candi Sugar

Im going to be attempting a strawberry blonde belgian with some clear Belgian Candi sugar for extra sweetness. The recipe is basically the Mill Pond kit from GFHB (Pale rice, Crystal and M41 belgian yeast). I am planning on adding some biscuit rice to the mash and 3lbs of the strawberry puree...

Brewfather - gravity reading and dry hopping

In my search to find the best software for me I have stumbled upon brew father. There is a lot to like compared to other software out there. A couple of things I haven’t been able to figure out though. How am I able to add a gravity reading to my batch? It appears to only allow Starting and...

Dividing line between close enough and stuck fermentation?

I recently brewed a Porter with a OG of 1.053 and an expected FG of 1.015 (its gluten free). After two weeks of fermentation I am sitting at 1.025 with two readings 3 days apart. If i was at 1.020 or lower i would say close enough and bottle. 10 points off seems kind of far as well as a risk...

    GF Friendly brewing software?

What is peoples preferred brewing software? One thing I’ve noticed while checking around is that none of them seem to have many gluten-free grains built into their systems. I have been using Brewer’s Friend for a bit but I don’t love the layout. I find it difficult to maneuver around and find...

    Thoughts/Advice on low conversion

Amber Ale Kit from GFHB done as a partial mash with some Sorghum Syrup\ I brewed up this kit today and got what I think is low conversion rate. According to brewers friend its 37 percent. I felt like I did a decent job of managing the various partial mash tasks. I did a 60 min mash at around...

Texas San Antonio - Gluten Free?

We’re heading to San Antonio for a wedding next month. Hoping I can get some decent gluten free beer there. My options where we live are a 2 hour drive for a $9 bottle... Any suggestions on bars, restaurants, or stores in the area that carry gluten free beer? Thanks!

    OG high by a lot

I brewed a GF Brown Ale yesterday but ended up with an original gravity of 1.084 instead of the expected (according to Brewers Friend) 1.055 Link below if you want to check out the recipe. Basically everything went smoothly and according to plan. I had never done a 'specialty' grain recipe...

Caramel or Coconut Porter or Stout recipe?

Anyone have a tried recipe for either a caramel or coconut, porter or stout. I would like to brew something for a friend that just bought a business to be part of the celebration in a few months. She mentioned she likes darker beers. Hoping to do something a little different. Has to be...
