Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Not. thanks for pointing out my error. I edited the comment.

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

Honestly, it sounds like you drive little enough that it’s really not worth making the switch. In my case I put more like 25k miles a year on my car. I did the math and made the decision.

Withdrawn Getting rid of Brewing Equipment - North Side of Indianapolis

I’m interested in the copper immersion coil. Could take a few other things.

Sounds like a used Leaf would be perfect for her. Maybe they are harder to find now, and I haven’t looked lately, but I use to often see them relatively cheap.

WLP838 Discussion (and some WLP833 comparison)

Thanks for the discussion. I went to the LHBS planning on buying some 34/70. They were out, and so I picked up some liquid 838 as an alternative. Will brew today, and am interested to see how it works.

Are you talking new or used? If used, the older ones had problems with battery degradation. Still, they can be useful vehicles. I know one guy who bought an older one which only gets 50-60 miles of range. But he only paid $6k for it. He uses it to drive for local trips To the store, etc. Which...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Good to see people still posting on this thread. I haven’t been brewing near as much recently, or checking in here. Just restocked on some supplies, and may brew today. My last one was a pale ale which turned out well. This one will be the Dortmunder Lager recipe that’s become my standard brew...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

Hi John. I did calibrate my unit by a couple degrees. It has been a few years, so I forget exactly. But on my Brewzilla, I normally set the temp to 219 and let it rip. One of the early complaints of these 110v units was that the boil wasn’t strong, but I just set it a bit high and generally get...

I see some of you have had trouble with the polycarbonate sight glasses. Sorry to hear. I am still on my first one, and it’s been over a year. So they sometimes do last. I keep expecting it to break, but it’s hanging in there so far. I have brewed maybe 20 batches using it. The metal one is...

    Substitude for w34/70 yeast

This is what I have done the past couple of years when brewing frequently. The first batch is with 2 packs of 34/70. I am doing 5 gallon batches. Subsequent batches are just pitched onto the existing yeast cake. I don't clean the fermenter between batches. Blasphemy I know. I have a plastic...

    Substitude for w34/70 yeast

    Just pitch more yeast.

    Substitude for w34/70 yeast

How much are you pitching? I've found that I have gotten a bubblegum type taste when not pitching enough yeast. Fermentis recommends 2 packs of dry yeast for a 5 gallon batch, and it needs it. Since doing this, I had been quite happy with 34/70.

The room was cold. I brew in my garage, and it was below freezing. The E4 message is supposed to indicate that the unit has overheated. I've gotten it a couple times now when Ive turned it on when cold.

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

I fired up my Robobrew today. I brewed the Dortmunder lager recipe that I often do. I really only have about 4-5 basic recipes that I brew at this point At any rate, when I turned on the unit, I got an error message. E4. I’ve gotten it before when it was cold. I went upstairs, heated a...

Poll: Do you have, or plan to get, an electric car?

I'm not sure where you get your figures. My daughter is still driving my 2013 Volt. These batteries last longer than 4 years, and nowhere near that price to be replaced as far as I know. My 2018 Volt is 4 years old and shows no signs of slowing down. But, I do like that they have gas back up.

I read an article recently which showed that Teslas lose much less range in cold weather relative to other brands. The juest of the article was that other carmakers need to figure out what Tesla is doing. Will see if I can find it.

Why don't you want to overflow? By overflow I assume that you mean to have the wort go down the center pipe. I let my pump run throughout the mash. I don't have mine wide open, but there is a continuous flow down the center. I think that is how it is designed. You will continuously have heated...

    Robobrew/Brewzilla Discussion

My guess is that the main function is to set the overflow height above the top screen. If the top of the center pipe is too high, then enough water may collect above the grain to allow the pool at the bottom to go dry. As long as you set the height not too high you should be fine. I lost mine...
