    I'm Too Not Proud

the next person to pick a gift can steal any other gift that has been stolen. Once a gift has been stolen three times, it can't be stolen any more. I brought a sixer to a white elephant gift party with church people and the office party. the beer was much more hotly fought for at the church...

    I found Amarillo hops!

I'm straight with them. Stuff happens that they can't control. The guy even put his cell phone number in the email if I had any issue. I mean, I've got issues, but nothing he can help me with. I'm just bummed cause I want me some more amarillo! I don't think my current supply will last me...

    I found Amarillo hops!

I just got notice that my order has been canceled for full refund. I guess they lost count or had more on back or than they realized or something. Anyone know where else I could pick up a pound?

    I'm Too Not Proud

not too proud rather...to collect all the non twist top beer bottles at the company Christmas party, make sure they are well rinsed and bag them up for the trip home. The sixer of my home brew was the most fought for white elephant gift! :D Dave

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I'm having some buddies over for a 10 gallon session of a Bells Two Hearted Clone. Gonna try the yeast I harvested in five gallons and S-05 in the other.

Yup, they already sold out, and would only let you order a pound of any one variety.

    Two Hearted Harvest Failure?

This first starter is 500ml. It is chugging along pretty good now. I give it a swirl as often as I can and just up to 1L and then to 2L based on you comments. I think I may have been under pitching on some of my other beers based on the little bit of playing I have done with Mr. Malty. I'll...

    Two Hearted Harvest Failure?

Success. Took 48 hours but it started bubbling nicely. Are you doing a Bells Two Hearted Clone by any chance? What size starter are you using? I tried Mr. Malty for the first time and it is telling me 1.6 L which seems big to me, but that is probably what I'll end up with.

    Two Hearted Harvest Failure?

I did a search and found that some other didn't see activity for a few days so I won't give up hope. I was hoping to do two five gallon batched of a Bell Two Hearted Clone this weekend; one with s-05 and one with harvested yeast. I can't get 1227 locally. I guess I could have it expedited...

    Two Hearted Harvest Failure?

I pitched the dregs from three bottles into a starter dme solution. No sign of life after 24 hours. Some of the other threads indicated a rapid takeoff. Is she a gonner? The only thing I might have hosed up was there might have been some temp differences when combining dregs and starter...

    Hurricane Banjo Burner Flame

It was supposed to be a low pressure burner for natural gas. I fired it up again this evening and it seemed to perform better. I think I am in good shape. Dave

    Hurricane Banjo Burner Flame

My wife is perfectly happy with my half an inch, its my flame size I'm worried about!

    Hurricane Banjo Burner Flame

I just got one, and I understand from other threads the flame is somewhat small, but gosh mine is probably less than half an inch. Can someone post up a pic of their flame with this NG burner? Would increasing my orifice size help? Thanks. Dave

    Am I fermenting too cold?

 Scoundrel, put down the slide rule and back away from the fermenter... Just kidding man. That is awesome. I wish I had the skill set to do that kind of stuff. Dave

    Am I fermenting too cold?

I imagine all the mixing that is occurring during active fermentation keeps the temp. relatively uniform in the vessel itself. It would seem the greatest variance is going to occur across the sidewall of the actual vessel. If there is a five degree gradient between inside and outside, then...

    Am I fermenting too cold?

I use a fridge with temp control, but the thermostat is way off, so I look at the temp strips on the side of the glass carboy. I am assuming they are closer to the external temp than the internal temp, since they are on the external surface. So the cooler the temp, the cleaner the beer is...

    Am I fermenting too cold?

I'm doing Edworts IPA which I have done numerous times and love it. I try to keep the fermentation around 60 or 62 but it tends to take 14 or so days. this last time, even after 14 days it had a few points to go, so I raised it to 70 and it took off again for about a day. Am I fermenting...

American IPA Bee Cave Brewery IPA

Do you cold crash prior to dry hopping because you dry hop in the keg? I am going to bottle and was going to bring it to room temp for 10 days and dry hop at the same time, then cold crash for a couple days and bottle.

    American Wheat Beer American Wheat

I made five gallons of this and I finally have a wheat beer in the mix I like. I've tried several hefe's and just don't like the spicy twang, i gravitate more toward a clean american like Widmer. Only thing I did different was use herbuckle and cascade (because I had the cascade). It came...
