    wort chiller question

Splashing the wort at that temperature more than likely will cause hot side aeration and could cause the batch to taste like wet cardboard. Get your boiled wort down below 70 degrees at least before you splash anything. For ales you want to get your wort down to about 60 degrees, transfer and...

    craigslist score

Yeh, measure the liquid going in one time, they hold about a gallon or so more than they're rated for, it leaves headspace for when the yeast is working.

    beer serving temp???

It depends on your taste really. But if you can serve a beer warm and it still tastes good, you know you did something right, if you have to serve it cold for it to be drinkable then you might want to look at your recipe or your process etc. You never see BMC beer served warm and for a very...

Air tight grain storage a must?

You can also go to your local grocery store if they bake any of their own goods and ask if they have an Ice Frosting buckets. They throw them away so usually they'll give them to you FREE. I get 3 gallon buckets which are HDPE, food grade plastic. They seal air-tight and are stackable. :mug:

Does draining too fast cause low efficiency?

I've only done AG once to date, but have another session planned for this coming weekend. I also had the braid plug up on me and I'm guessing it was the same reason. I'm interested in wet milling also but for now I'll just stick with dry milling and adding rice hulls I guess. :rockin:
