    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

Might have saved the hydrometer... This guy recommends adding nail polish to the end, to add the necessary weight... https://homebrewingdiy.beer/index.php/2021/06/15/floating-up-going-deep-on-hydrometers-part-2-of-2/

Pennsylvania Free Fliptop and 12oz pry off bottles (Pittsburgh)

Oh, no worries... I'm not gonna take people's extra supply. ;) You know of any Home Brew groups in PGH? Contests, or... anything? I see the Homebrew Con is coming next year... I entered a contest a while ago in Minneapolis, didn't do too badly Surprised I don't see more of that kind of thing...

Gelatin fined three beers, all three under carbonated after bottling

Not sure how id measure *after* it's in the bottling bucket... unless you have a scale on there... I measured ot 5 gallons and that's my scale. It's a fine scale, one marking "-5"

Gelatin fined three beers, all three under carbonated after bottling

Rule number 1 for homebrewing, it's almost always drinkable.

    Official Broken Hydrometer Count

I guess its 2610+1... 2611 Busted one when I lowered it too fast into a bucket of stars san filled with bottles... I was privileged to clean 8 bottles a second time and start a fresh batch of starsan... And wait a minute... hydrometers have to be read according to temperature? I've been doing...

Gelatin fined three beers, all three under carbonated after bottling

Well, I originally calculated for 5 gallons which was incorrect... 5 gallons is marked on the bucket, so that's an easy target, but anything I add over that, I need to add using measuring cups so I know exactly how much more is added.

Gelatin fined three beers, all three under carbonated after bottling

Hmmm... I've been sitting here mulling over the last few brews I've done... and I think I've stumbled upon it... DOH! The last three beers in the beer kits have resulted in a higher OG than what the recipe predicted. As a result, I added water in order to match the predicted OG - I did this...

Gelatin fined three beers, all three under carbonated after bottling

Title says it all. I used gelatin from Walmart, heated it to the suggested temperature, and added it to my 5 gallon batch 3 days before bottling. Has anyone experienced this with adding gelatin when bottle conditioning? After 3 months, the beers are slowly gaining carbonation, but it's...

    Continuously under-carbonated beers...

Okay, I will try this. Are there other factors that could contribute? I've always used Dawn, and it is not a new variable.

    Continuously under-carbonated beers...

2.5 to 3 weeks on average. Some are going on 2 months at this point. I'm mostly doing kits from Brewer's Best. Kits that did me well in the past. Kolsch, Octoberfest, Cream Ale. One that's 1 year, that was NOT carb'd well is now exhibiting great carbonation. That's a long time to wait...

    Continuously under-carbonated beers...

I've made about 25 batches of homebrew over the years. The last 4 or so batches, however, have been under-carbonated. I rarely get a head on these beers anymore. I blame Covid. It all started after Covid. But that's a cop-out. I've made 4 batches, and none of them will form a head when I'm...

Starsan 1 month in Letica Bucket -- White film, dissolved plastic?

Could the slurry on the bottom also be phosphate salt precipitates? This was a significant white slurry on the bottom...

Starsan 1 month in Letica Bucket -- White film, dissolved plastic?

Yeah, probably being too paranoid after what I poured out if it. If the white stuff wasn't the bucket, I guess something else could have dropped in and dissolved.... Living the mystery... In other news, the German Alt I bottled today tastes AMAZING!
