Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Annnnd here is a picture of the Blueberry Farmhouse Ale poured into a snifter. Zero head, alright carbonation zip. Nice and tart, clean. Faint yeastiness, good berry finish. Very happy with it. :)

Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Latest update! Bottles are fully conditioned! Brought a couple in to the LHBS and got plenty of positive feedback, both beers were a hit. So I'm kind of proud of myself. The Oatmeal Pale was described as "Incredibly smooth, somewhat spicy/rustic, mellow, complex but not in-your-face"...

Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Gave the Oatmeal IPA a taste the other day, and I'm very happy with it! Appearance - somewhat brassy/rose gold, glass laces well, not much head Aroma - Hint of honey, apricot, some outdoorsy resin smell, aromatic herbs. Flavor - Not citrusy, somewhat grassy and herbal, hint of banana, and...

So...You Want to Breed Your Own Hops.

I would love to do something like what you guys are, plant science (especially the molecular bits of it) is a huge interest of mine, so as a homebrewer growing several varieties of hops was a given. If I could help out in any way with your test/trials/etc I'm game. I currently have 6 varieties...

Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Both batches have been bottled and are now conditioning. Gravities held constant at 1.002 and 1.008 for a couple days. The Oatmeal IPA had no off-flavors at bottling, and was quite smooth. I'm very excited to see how this one turns out after it conditions. The Blueberry Sour wasn't very sour...

Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Week 1 update: I took a Day-After-Gravity on both batches and got a "starting" grav of 1.049 for the Oatmeal IPA and a 1.042 for the Blueberry Sour. Today I took gravity readings for each fermentation and got 1.002 for the IPA, and a 1.008 for the Sour. I'll check them again in a day or two, but...

    Southwest Michigan Hobbiest

Thanks guys! I tried submitting a post with my brew from this weekend, but it hasn't shown up yet. Is there an approval period that needs to happen or a moderator needs to approve? or do I just need to try to re-post it? I did a parti-gyle Oatmeal IPA and a blueberry sour. And my chickens...

    Southwest Michigan Hobbiest

Hi all, My name is Nick, I'm from the West Michigan area, and I have a science problem. I can't help experimenting when I do things, so my homebrewing forays have been interesting in different ways each time. I look forward to being part of the community here and hope to get some feedback on...

Oatmeal IPA and Second-runnings Blueberry Sour

Hi all, new to the forums (posting-wise) but I've lurked some time. Last night I decided to try my hand at an Oatmeal IPA, and because I am greedy I tried to make a session sour with the second-runnings in a pseudo parti-gyle sort of way. It was an adventure, and I had a riot while doing it...
