Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

I'm about 23 days in. Seems like the color is turning a little yellow. I can't tell if the smell is simply a strong alcohol or a slight vinegar. There is still a hint of sweet to it. I can't do anything with it tonight but should I filter and refrigerate tomorrow?

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

I got a similar response at 99Ranch market in plano, tx. Eventually I was pointed towards some rice/water balls. No mention of yeast. Probably 25 for $5 so I wasn't too worried. I'll post a pic and let you know how it turns out.

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

I might have missed it, but how long will it last after bottling in the fridge without changing the taste? Nice thread.

    brisket

Another +1 on smoke first. Smoke is mostly absorbed in the first few hours. To speed things up smoke for a few hours then wrap in foil and throw in the oven.

    Ice?

I've been on the cheap end also. Spent my first available brew $ on keg. I bought a large rubbermaid tub that Home Depot and Lowe's sells after christmas. It works great with 20# of ice and water, better than the sink. It also doubles to help with fermentation. I put my fermenters in it, 8...

    Any mini fridges without freezers?

No corneys, one tap, 2.5 CO2, and single regulator. Kegconnection tailors to the Homebrew.

    Any mini fridges without freezers?

I bought the sanyo 4912 about a month ago at Fry's for $179. 2 coney's, CO2, and I didn't have to remove the shelves in the door.

    ginger ale help

Just curious, what recipe are you using? How much ginger? Do you use lemon? How much sugar if you force carb? I made some up this weekend, just winged the recipe. Came out ok, but wanted to know what others are doing.

Thanks. That's refreshing!! First thing my wife said was I'm not drinking that. Good thing I got at least 6 months to change her mind.

    1st wine kit help

I started a vitners reserve wine kit. I followed instructions to a tee, got to less than .980 before I went to the third step. I stirred as much as I could to get the CO2 out, until there were few to no bubbles. I left about 2 inches from the stopper. 3 days later I had wine in my airlock...

    New to kegging/kegerator

Thanks. As for the 10' lines. How much difference is there with the 10' lines and the mixer in the 'cure for the short hose' thread?

    New to kegging/kegerator

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger. Looking at the prices if I put these together it looks the same to me: $198 http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=324 plus $158 http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=102 that is with the upgrade to Perlick...

    New to kegging/kegerator

I am planning on converting a Sanyo 4912. I am completely new to kegging. I have searched. I'd rather buy knew 'kit' than try to piece together for my first time. I want a 2 faucet tower setup. Is this kit from kegconnection all I need: http://stores.kegconnection.com/Detail.bok?no=55...

What do I do with this yeast fuel?

I am new to brewing, but from the two batches I brewed up, I think you throw the yeast fuel in the wort as the boil is wrapping up.

    Longevity of kegged beer

Monitored--just make sure there is no leak and such. I am still reading but off hand is there anything different you would do with a keg that has set at room temp for a month or longer?

    Cooling Wort Alternative

I boil 2.5 gallons, then close to frozen bottled water when wort reached about 85-90%.

    Longevity of kegged beer

Like I said I am new to this. I have quickly read thru many of the kegging tutorials. Probably just overlooked some of this. If I have a keg in the kegerator, how long will it last with the CO2 being monitored. From what I have read it is only a month or so. If the keg is 'stored' at room...

    Cooling Wort Alternative

For my first 2 brews I cooled them in an ice bath pretty effectively. I had it in the bath tub. One question though. I shook the pot around alot while in the bath tub. With the wort cooling that fast does it have any ill effect to be shook around alot?
