Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

Thanks for the informative post 🤘🏽I have heard, like other brewers they change ingredients slightly due to ingredient shortages...but then again time can really change a beers character. The one I tried, don't know batch or date, was as perfect as an DIPA could be. I was...

So how was it? Close...close enough?? The real stuff is pretty drinkable, mine not so much :(

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

At least 2 1/2 to 3 months ago. It was bitter, piney and had an unpleasant heat. The bitterness overshadowed any fruitiness of a nice IPA IMO. It has either smoothed out or I got used to it. I prefer the Sculpin clone recipe I tried to this one, but I don't think either really tasted exactly...

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

Made this a few months back, finally killing the keg of it...it's been rough but either it's not as bad as first, or I got used to the bitterness? A rough brew, not an easy drinker, mine was nothing like the real pliny. Doubt I'd attempt it again until I'm a lot better at brewing.

Ballast Point - Victory at Sea. This is pure beer nirvana.

You are probably right, not sure if I'd sell out a brewery if I invested my soul into it but I'm 100% sure I'd give my recipes away because let's face it, I brew but I still buy beers, so a majority of us homebrewers still buy their beer. I guess I was just bitter because it seems that everyone...

Ballast Point - Victory at Sea. This is pure beer nirvana.

I thought VaS was great till I tried Sudwerk 3 best friends. Same idea in a lager!? If you can get VaS on tap, it's good, but the bottle versions suck balz. As for them selling out...a sell out is a sell out. Maybe you think it's ok? I'm old school and don't. I don't buy ballast anymore, but...

    Blue Moon Clone

Everything you need to know about the ingredients is on this thread, it will be as good if not better. For brewing instructions check out YouTube vids on basics, mash temps, time 60 min boil, cool wart to at least 70 degrees then pitch yeast. It's a pretty straight forward recipe.

    Victory at Sea clone recipe?

Nice try getting Ballast Point to help you with anything. Love their beers but they suck as far as being decent helpful humans...

    Slightly Sour Oatmeal Stout

Thanks for the reply. I do all grain with everything together in the mash tun, 10 gal igloo. I mashed these at lower temps, 156-158. I put a tablespoon of baking soda in the mash last time. I let it mash for 90 min then boil for 1 hour. I haven't gotten scientist on my brews as of yet, I was...

    Slightly Sour Oatmeal Stout

I've been brewing for about a year now. I've been making mainly IPA but the last two chocolate oatmeal stouts have come out sour, or infected or ?? I got the recipe online, it had good reviews, it's under "double chocolate oatmeal stout" but the flavor is just sour, it takes forever to carbonate...

    Victory at Sea clone recipe?

I've only recently noticed what snobs "most" microbreweries are. I thought they were some sort of Robin Hood like group fighting the big bad piss peddling beer companies...but I find them no better. I honestly believe they think home brewers are a thorn in their side, even though most say and...

Brewstand build finished! 1st brew today

I don't have a clue as to what's going on in this rig...but I like it!! Great looking rig, nice, clean, polished, what more could you want. I'm curious, the cooler is used for mashing correct? I just have a 44 quart ss pot with ss fitting and a 10 gallon igloo mash tun. Really want to build a...

Specialty IPA: Black IPA Heavenly Scourge Black IIPA

That is a nice looking beer! I know it's been awhile but any idea what sugar was used during bottling? I've been using table sugar recently, but I think the bubbles are too round and big, not foamy like the pic. It works for a regular IPA but I think for a black IPA I'd want the head to be...

Help, why does my oatmeal stout taste like teriyaki sauce?

Curious what the outcome was? I have a chocolate oatmeal stout that taste kind of sour and isn't carbonating after a week? Kind of scared, my last batch (a wit beer) did the same thing...think the yeast was infected?? Guess my yeast was o.k., into second week of bottle carbonation and it's...

How long does it generally take for a beer to carbonate in the bottle?

A few of the beers are almost fully carbonated so I guess the experiment was a success. According to a friend at work, got me into home brewing, it is a great example of a sour beer? Not my up of tea but he wants all of them because his girlfriend loved it... The yeast was infected because my...

Double IPA Pliny the Elder Clone

Anyone tried or heard of the Morebeer clone? A friend at work ordered the kit so I'm curious about it now. Supposed to be exact.
