    Flat Beer in bottles...

Thanks for the replies. I'll just give it a shot. Like Revvy said, no loss if it turns out bad - it would be a learning experience. And honestly, the knowledge is worth more than a half batch of beer. :D

    Flat Beer in bottles...

Ok, so about 6-8 months ago I did a recipe for a Mirror Pond porter clone and all seemed to go ok. I bottled this batch and let it age. I cracked one open about a month after bottling and it had very little carbonation. I let it sit longer. 2 months - same thing, 3 months same... It tastes...

    Splenda?

Ok, so I went through a couple threads to find out how much Splenda to use to sweeten some cider I just finished up. I did (2) 1 gallon batches. In reading, my guess would be 3 tbsp Splenda, 3 tbsp corn sugar (to carb) per gallon or 6 tbsp of the baking type of Splenda to accomplish both...

    Sanitizing Flip Top Bottles

I usually soak my bottles in a bleach solution then blast them with hot water using a bottle washer and finally run them through the sanitize setting on my dishwasher (without soap of course) right before bottling. Is this a little overkill? When using fliptops, I take off the wire fliptop and...

    A few things...

My Opinions :D #1 I have a "fermometer" on all of my carboys. My carboys wear a tshirt too. When it gets above the temp I want to ferment at, I just wet the tshirt. #2 I use a sterile siphon starter. Probably the easiest way since it has a stainless racking cane - which is nice and sturdy...

    Start-up Kegging Kit

I kinda pieced my setup together. Just because I found a couple local suppliers. I would definitely go for at least 2 kegs. I found 4 on ebay for $100 with free shipping. I guess the amount of kegs all depends on how much you brew. I can normally keep all 4 full (and have some in bottles)...

Lets see... went to school with Anita Kauk, worked with Dong Dong and Dak Phuc and I have an inlaw that works for an OBGYN - Dr. Felix Sanchez. We call him Dr. Feelin Snatches... :D

    Hello From Northern CA...

I would guess that there are some brew clubs in the area. Know of any? We should definitely get together and have a brew day.

What do you guys prefer for bottles?

Twist offs??? I haven't seen that with Sierra yet. Maybe another bottling facility?

What do you guys prefer for bottles?

I've found that the best reusable bottles are the Sierra Nevada bottles. If you soak them overnight, the labels peel right off and with a little scrub brush you can remove the excess glue. They clean up nicely and they have nothing etched into them (like sam adams or widmere bottles). Also...
