hm..... I'm stumped.... @Thorrak - are fermentrack doing the mdns-stuff through nscd or through avahi ? I'm getting avahi-resolve-host-name to work without any problems : -bash-5.1$ avahi-resolve-host-name ESP3751667.local esp3751667.local 192.168.68.102 but not when using getent ...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I just pulled down the installer, opened it in vi and tried to make sense of what to install :) Oh the irony... I dont trust sdcards and had my install on an old laptop-disk. Guess what - yesterday my disk died on me so I'm rebuilding as we speak from source again, and will report back my...

Hi all and @Thorrak in particular :) I have, for educational purposes embarked on a mission to see if I can build a fermentrack "distro" all from source based on the Linuxfromscratch-project with these raspberry pi specific additions and are in need of some guidance. After several days of...

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

Good to hear. One way of shutting down the PI safely without logging into the box is described here if you're interested. Havent tested this my self, but that site also has comments discussing how to do a safe reboot, and not just a safe shutdown... Again .. Havent tested this my self, so YMMV...

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

Why not save a lot of hassle and buy a cheap ssd and a usb to sata adapter ? That will remove the hassle of failing SD-cards once an for all. How to set this up can be found here for Raspberry 2B v1.2, 3A+, 3B, and 3B+, and here for the Rasperry Pi 4, even on the 4 you need a sdcard AND an ssd...

[Version 2 Release] RaspberryPints - Digital Taplist Solution

And I know several that love it, so what does that prove ? Nothing really. Find what works for you and let others do the same. BUT i do think that adding another os to an already confusing mix of versions might not be the best thing to do.... peram

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

As MegaTrond seems to be living here in Norway, there is no tab to clib as we have way different sockets that the US :) But yeah, if current is flowing to both sockets at the same time this might happen. I had a "stray" single strand of wire bridging the sockets my self so I have seen this...

Could the "ispindel-tcp-server-thingy" be used as an intermediate step ? As far as I understand it gives you local control (among other things) over your ispindel-data before it is sent of into the sky.... just $0.02... regs, peram

Native ESP8266 BrewPi Firmware - WiFi BrewPi, no Arduino needed!

I am in the process of testing usb-to-sata adapters and small SSD disks as I am sick and tired of SDcards that die on me. I have one PI 3+ running now with a 120 GB SSD that I had just collecting dust. Seems to be working flawlessly so far, so that might be an option for staying on the...

Hi all. Has anyone managed to get the Adafruit feather huzzah esp8266 to work with fermenttrack ? I can flash it OK, and it shows up in the dashboard, but I can't for the life of me get it to find the DS18B20 sensors I have. this is the pinout for that board if needed. regs, peram
