    Stout FG

    Well after 9 days of bottle conditioning i couldnt resist the urge and had one last night. Flavour and mouth feel was actually really good! Unfermentables must have been to blame for the high FG

    Stout FG

    Not many posts here but long time lurker! Long story short i recently came into the possession of my grandfathers old diaries, and like undoubtedly most here, got into homebrew because of him. The diary in question outlined a recipe for his own brew "Tommys Tobruk stout" a beer he brewed in the...

    using old yeast

    6 months is absolutely nothing if kept correctly. Old yeast might take a little time to get going but will work absolutely fine. Yeast is a fungus so will replicate by mitosis (some reproduce via a process called budding but lets not split hairs) meaning its possible to get a full brew from a...

    vomit smell/taste

    I've encountered a very acidic almost vomit smell in cider before. The only common denominator i found was using apple juice that was too sharp or adding acid. I put them in the cupboard at the top of the stairs and forgot about them for a few days. Lets just say at about...

    My christmas spiced cider

    That time of year is coming around again soon, and usually this time of year I rack off one of my reds from the year to make into mulled wine. A firm favourite among friends and relatives but the wife can't stand the stuff! She's recently gotten into real cider, even made her first batch, so...

    Uk brew website

    For equipment check gumtree. The amount of stuff on there super cheap or even free from "tried it once" brewers is amazing. Pressure barrels and fermenting buckets are on alot, I've even gotten them for free! (well in exchange for a few bottles ;) )

    Uk brew website

    I tend to use https://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/ They have a good selection and are pretty reasonably priced. They often have sale items too its well worth checking regularly I've had some bargains from there. It depends on what you're actually after buying on who is the cheapest? And what sort of...
