Well I did it I pulled the trigger and went into kegging

I have an old fermenting bucket from when I first got into homebrewing that got scratched up and I don't trust it anymore. It's one of the larger (I think 7.x gallon buckets). I put a small trash bag in there, put the corney in the bag, and then fill ice in around it. Depending on the location...

I've found it..I've found the Holy Grail!

I've had a few bottles of 120 myself. I'm around Chicago and it doesn't seem to be that hard to get around here (I searched for it a few months over the summer, but since then I've had no problem getting it). The first bottle I had I didn't really know what to think. It was good, but really just...

I could use one, I buy from them all the time.

    I need hops please -Cascade-

HD has them for $33/lb http://www.hopsdirect.com/hops/pellethops.html. That's pretty decent.

    Keezer Collar Question

I used 2x10s and secured them to the freezer base with silicone. It seems to hold very well. Those that suggested attaching it to the lid might be on to something, but I don't know if the weight would hold on the hinges. Plus it would be a bigger pain to lift up. The efficiency might go down...

    My Keezer

Thanks a lot. It isn't perfectly constructed, but for a guy with little experience in carpentry, it's not too bad. The hobgoblin and holy grail tap handles I picked up from Ale Fest in Chicago a week or two ago. They were either $20 or $25. For some pretty unique handles, I couldn't pass...

    My Keezer

Well, I wanted to share my keezer I built about a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty standard, inspired by quite a few posts on here. Thanks guys! I've only got one picture right now, but when I put the final touches on everything, I could snap one of the inside if anybody is interested. Things...

    Embarrasing mistake with one-step

In my opinion (with isn't worth a whole lot), the place that is easiest to screw up is sanitation, and that has nothing to do with AG vs Extract. Basically the only effect that screwing up something in AG will have is to make the recipe slightly different then what you were targeting for, but...

    How about Gordon Biersch?

It's the closest brewpub to me, actually, the only one within reasonable driving distance for hitting up just to have a couple beers (esp with gas). I like the Marzen a lot. The burgers they have are pretty good too, and so are the garlic fries (at least when you get a good batch). It is a...

    Unique Stir Plates

I tried duplicating that one, but I could never get the magnets to catch the stir bar, they kept throwing them. I think it was more a problem with my magnets though. That was a great design though.

    Cheap Kegerator?

Probably the cheapest "kegerator" would be to get the cheapest mini fridge you can that can fit a keg and smaller co2 tank in, and just use a picnic faucet instead of building a tower with a tap on it. If you're looking at buying a new fridge, you could test your luck with Best Buy and see if...

    Party-bound Homebrew

I've never brought a full keg to a party, but I've had a few friends try it. Most of them liked it. It's hard to tell if they were being nice or sincere because they are BMC drinkers who occasionally go for stuff like Sam Adams or Blue Moon. In other words, they've had something other than...

    Magic Chef keezer

I got a quick question. What is it that is holding the collar in place? Is it just silicone sealant of some sort? Also, what thickness of wood is everyone using? I have a hard time judging by the pictures.

    Variations of Apfelwein

I plan on doing a variation sometime soon using blackberries. Basically, I F-ing love blackberries. Unfortunately, they can be expensive, and blackberry juice isn't exactly easy to come along. My brother and his girlfriend are big pomegranate fans, and they are moving together in a month or...

Who drinks their Apfelwein non carbed?

I kegged it and put some pressure on it. I can't wait though, so I'm drinking from it every so often. Flat or carbed, it'll mess you up. God bless Ed Wort.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm sure this has been answered a few times before, but this is a really long thread, and I couldn't find the answer (plus, I've just had a couple pints of my first batch of EW's AW, and I'm feeling pretty toasty...), what is the approximate ABV of this recipe? edit: a bit more investigation...

First All-Grain Batch, but not shooting for 5 gallons

If you don't have the cooler yet, check out Home Depot. I believe it was around their garden section (but may be somewhere else), they had a 5 gallon round orange igloo cooler for ~$20. I'm sure you've seen plans to convert coolers to MLT, and know you can get the other parts at a HD too. I...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    I made 5 gallons, so 6751+5=6756

    Beer school?

Pretty expensive, but the beauty of being able to take it online is you can do it from anywhere, including the other side of the world. I would think that taking it in person would be best, but sometimes that just doesn't work out.
