    Dealing with spent grain

How long will the grains stink? As a newb AG brewer I had no way to get rid of them so i tossed them in the flower bed and raked them smooth, it stinks to high heaven, you can be on the other side of my house and it still stinks. I think I'm going to have to bury them tomorrow or something.

    Mini Mash Miracle

I did my first mini mash a month or two ago, and the process was an absolute disaster. Typically I brew on a propane burner outside, but I did the mashing in my stainless steel pot inside on an electric stove. It's a long, long, embarrassing, story, but basically I boiled my grains during my...

Where to find cheap extract kits?

If you're buying 1 kit, Midwest supplies is the cheapest. But they charge actual shipping, so if you're getting more then 1 kit, then you need to go purchase from the flat rate shipping people (austin, northern)

    Cooler or Kettle for HLT

I am going to go with a cooler HLT, MLT, and do a single tiered system. However, I don't plan on doing RIMS/HERMS yet. I was thinking of just using a pump, but still brewing w/ the same equipment as you would use with a gravity 3 tiered system. See any issues w/ this?

How much yeast for 10G batches

I have experience that it works, and I was being modest and calling myself a newb. You should know everyone here brews differently and has different ways of doing different things. All ways result into beer. And ya, you do sound like an a$$. OP - Sorry, the masses say I'm wrong. If you pitch a...

How much yeast for 10G batches

I'm a newb, and you shouldnt take advice from newbs. But I pitch a 5 gallon yeast packet of wyeast into my 10gallon. Yeast will create more yeasties. yeast babies, and it seems to get the job done. A starter will help too, but I never needed to do that

What does the boil do to extract?

I had a similiar question as this earlier. I found out beersmith has late extract options to help you figure out your IBUs if you want to be scientific.

Every beer is amber and clove/banana

Can you explain the benefit to doing this? I figured the boil was really only for the hops

Every beer is amber and clove/banana

All good ideas I will try. Another example is a lager I have fermenting right now. It's a european pilsner. It's got all light gain, extra light DME, and not many hops. It started out yellow like a wheat, and now is going amber. I'll try some of the ideas above. Hopefully I'll be going AG...
