California BrewEasy / SS Brewtech Complete System - San Diego

Hi All - I'm looking to sell my home-brewing set-up. No other reason than I just don't drink enough beer to justify the space it is taking in the garage. Plus living in San Diego I have 80+ breweries within 15 miles of my house that all out perform me! Local sales preferred -I don't want to...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

I like mine. Is it perfect, no, but it allows me to brew some great beer in a very limited space. Once you get past some of the learning curve issues it works well. As you will see in the threads, temperature control is an issue if you are using the built in thermometer. The thermowell does not...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

I was down at my local HBS the other day and they had a 10 gallon unit in there. Its build quality is impressive. Before I bought the BrewEasy I had some back and forth discussion with SS Brewtech on their plans to enter this space. At the time, they said they were going to focus on the 1BBL...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Very true, at this level percentage points are pennies on the dollar. My biggest thing I'm looking for is a consistent outcome. The stick thermometer I use is a long, about 14", commercial grade unit. I stabilize in the mash with a square piece of PE that I configure from another project...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Sorry about those numbers there Moose. I'm slowly getting comfortable with this unit. Did a Dunkelweiz brew on Friday last week and actually hit 71% on my efficiency. All my numbers came in and so far the beer is doing well. It blew through primary in 3 days going from 1.052 to 1.014 using...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Have you tried flushing the mash from the out valve a couple of minutes at the start of the mash cycle? I have done this my last two brew sessions and it seemed to help get a stable temperature faster. I fill the MK with enough water to cover the grain at dough in. Let it sit for 10 mins or...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Not a bad idea. I fine tune the flow with the valve using the orifice. I have mine set up in the garage after running some pwb through it. I can throw some water in and take some readings. Jim

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Had my 3rd batch on my 10 gal system last week. Brewed up a batch of Kal's Electric Pale Ale. This brew day was the best yet. I hit of all of my numbers with my OK being slightly better than projected through BeerSmith. I think I have it dialed in now. Dough In at 140, let it sit for 10 mins...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Good too know. I'm going to run a batch later in the week and see how it goes. Good news is here in San Diego I don't have to battle the elements. I have some thermal insulation in the garage, will give it a try. On another note - Noted a sticky Brewmometer during my last brew to Blichmann...

    Blichmann BrewEasy

Brewed my 1st batch on my new BrewEasy 10 gallon today. All in all it went well with the exception of a couple of learning curve issues. Had a stuck sparge that a fixed by reversing the flow through the grain bed for a minute or so, that did the trick. Had the mash temperature issues that...

Has anyone tried out or have a ss brewtech glycol chiller? Thoughts

Used mine for the first time last month. Was able to keep my batch at 67 with very little cycling in a 95+ San Diego garage. Glycol solution stayed at a nice 29 degrees. The unit looks great, very easy to set-up. The only problem I had was the mess made from the lines sweating. Went down to Home...
