    Triple Chocolate Coffee Stout

I put it all into my brewers friend and figured out percentages. Then you can base your recipe off the same percentages and get the same results

    Brew Boss Systems

I know someone who purchased a second hand brew-boss and the original owner didn’t remove his network info from it. The brew-boss support team want him to ship back his radio they will reprogram it and ship back, but they want something close to 60 USD to do it. Plus time shipping back and forth...

I use the BrewersFriend mostly. I can sync across all my devices and I like it more than Beersmith.

    E-BIAB Build with a twist

@cegan09 Do you use a false bottom so the bag does not burn? That way the false bottom sits over the element ? There is so much stuff on the internet, and while I am great with computers, I’m not very good with electrical so I’m kind of hesitant to go electric. I don’t want to blow myself up...

    E-BIAB Build with a twist

Brian, how long does it take to go from mash temp to boil with the 1650W element? I’m looking into something like this for myself and looking online seems like I need either 2 of them installed or a bigger (4600W 240V element ) I just don’t know if you can install 2 1500W elements into a 10G kettle

    7 inch head

I've had this happen with some of my bottles I picked up from the recyclers. Just because you wash them, doesn't mean they aren't free of wild yeasts. Once I washed them with PBW they are good to go now.

    RIS recipe critique

I would probably use at least 1lb of roasted barley. I would add black malt but not a lot or add it last 15 minutes of mash to not get those harsh tannins I find black malt gives out.

    Fruit Beer Pineapple Pale Ale

Can you double check your grain bill too? 14.5 lbs of grain give me about 1.070. That's a long way off of your 1.054

    Imp Stout recipe critique.

I agree about the black malt. I find it adds extra estringency to the beer. Stick with roasted barley and chocolate malt. For mine, I use crystal and ekg hops. Do a small batch for starters and if you like it, go big. That's how I test mine

Please help diagnose my first AG brewing mistakes.

Yes, exactly. If your pH is too low it could not feel as bitter as a higher pH bitter.. if that makes sense. Sorry for the delay, been busy

Please help diagnose my first AG brewing mistakes.

It could be your water profile. I find sometimes I need to add stuff to my water to give it that extra kick for IPA's. If it's thin, it could have been mashed too low, or you sparged with too much water.

    Should I pitch another packet?

I would move it somewhere warmer for the next few days since you said its 64 in your basement. Even if you have a brew belt therow that around it and you should see a drop in a couple days. Unfortunately beer is all about patience and we seem to forget that sometimes.

    Poor efficiency--??

I put your numbers into Brewers Friend, and I got an OG of 1.086 at 75% efficiency. Perhaps you need to mash with 2X the water? Everyone does their beers differently, but for me, I normally mash 10-12 pounds of grain in 6 gallons of water followed by 3 gallons sparge. You may not be washing...
