    TAP-A-DRAFT: first impression...

It was suggested upthread that you squeeze the tad bottles to reduce headspace. But I did this with my brand new tad and it resulted in permanent creases in the plastic. :( Be careful not to squeeze these very much if you are going to compress them to reduce headspace.

    Stirplate + 1Gallon jugs?

I made a homemade stir plate from a computer fan. It has a small stir bar and works perfectly with those one gallon jugs pictured above. run it more slowly if you can.

Bottling Bucket with Starsan Smells like Sulphur

Update the ph of the solution is yellow? My test kit directions don't go that low so I am assuming it is acidic. The scent seems to be coming from the lid. There is a rubber gasket around the lip. Could this be the source?

Bottling Bucket with Starsan Smells like Sulphur

I had my bottling bucket sitting with 5 gallons of starsan solution (1 oz of starsan). When I opened it to transfer it had a strong rotten egg/sulphur scent to it. The bucket is fairly new with only a couple of uses to it. I scrub it out regularly after use and sanitize it prior to use...

    Attention new all grain brewers!

Thanks JDS for articulating this. I feel like using more water in the mash has given me the results I prefer. Though, this is just a gut feeling, nothing I have observed empirically.

    Attention new all grain brewers!

I am confused now. Is it gallons or quarts. THe sticky reads 1-1.25 QUARTS for mash and .5 GALLONS for sparge. Is this correct? Colorado seems to think it is not...

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

I just finished making one of these tonight. A whole day of running around and less than an hour of assembly. Those ten gallon rubbermaids are a bugger to find in the stores. Thanks flyguy, you have probably helped hundreds to make the jump into all grain.

    Converting AG to extract.

How is that bitching rudely. I just don't want other people getting burned by extremely bad recipies that tend to show up on this site regularly. Especially when they are converted to extract. But hey, maybe you are one of those people that is posting the BullS&!t recipies EvilTOJ.

Belgian Blond Ale SWMBO Slayer - Belgian Blonde

BTW, the extract verison you posted is not good. It calls for .5 wheat LME and 5.0 flaked wheat. Is that a typo?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I showed this to my lhbs and she laughed at me. Do you know how much 5.0 Lbs of flaked wheat is? That is way too much for a 5 gal batch.

    Converting AG to extract.

Sometimes people post their extract versions of otherwise good recipies using a computer program or something else. You end up getting f@*k-up recipies that call for like five pounds of flaked wheat. Five pounds of flaked wheat is a lot of wheat. I noticed this at my lhbs and decided this...

    Hoegaarden clone

The extract version of this recipe came out pretty good, although I wouldn't say it tasted anything like hoegaarden. This recipe comes out with a very strong citrus taste. If you want my advice, tone down on the orange peel.
