The $500 CraigsList Blichmann 14g and tayfun h35g procom 1/3hp 2,6000btu/hr glycol build

I'm using 3/4 braided vinyl going to and from the main manifold, and standard 1/4 ice maker line for the individual circuit lines to the fermenters.

Thoughts on using a stainless baster instead of a wine thief?

Yes, buckets do make length less of an issue. I'm talking about the small end that goes in the beer... I tried to take some up close pics. Hopefully they come through ok

The $500 CraigsList Blichmann 14g and tayfun h35g procom 1/3hp 2,6000btu/hr glycol build

My first brew fermenting with a glycol system based on a trunk line chiller with the factory pump, I ended up popping the cool zone brew jacket. Lol, when cool zone says 9psi max, they mean it! 3gal glycol all over my floor. What a mess. Those gear pumps for the trunk lines are crazy strong.

Kegland Flow Control Keg Ball Locks?

I replaced all of my ball lock connectors with these. I got tired of goofing with my intertap flow control faucets. These things work great. Only issue I have is that they are touchy. And sharp as f#ck inside. I cut the crap out of myself on the threads inside. I have 4 on my keezer with 20ft...

Thoughts on using a stainless baster instead of a wine thief?

I've used a stainless baster for this. Two concerns I had with it 1) at least my baster, has a threaded end for a injection needle, making sanitation a bigger concern. Not insurmountable but hard to see 2) length. If your fermenter is hard to get into, such as a carboy, the distance to the...

What I did for beer today

Bottled my weissebeir. Was a small extract batch. Got 10x22oz bombers. Bottled the rest of a keg of my chocolate beer. Got 4x22oz bombers. Just trying to make room in the keezer. It's good but I don't drink enough of it to keep on tap. My buddies love it tho; bottles make it easier to share. I...

What I did for beer today

Kegged 10gallons of Stout. Shouldn't need to wait long for this to carb (woot low carb vol beers!)

What came in the mail for you today?

6 stainless steel ball lock flow control connectors. And a baggie of camlock gaskets. I've got flow control faucets. Pretty much hate them. Hopefully I'll get better results with these connectors.

What I did for beer today

Ordered a blichmann Brewcommander to control my propane (soon to be natural gas!) 3 vessel herms system. Man I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on this. I've been piecing together a pid based standing pilot gas controller for a while (I actually have the parts but haven't had the time...

    Don't Do That.

Maybe expensive pro grade systems are. 8 dunno. I use a long haul draft trunk line chiller for my stuff. The tank is mostly closed, but imho not designed very well. Definitely plenty of room to allow evaporate to escape. The instructions even say to check the level every couple weeks. [emoji48]

    Don't Do That.

Didn't brew for almost 6 months.(don't do that) during this time I shut down my glycol chiller. This is weekend I brewed a 10g Guinness clone (do do that!) .. chilled it down to my ground temp's ability of 95f, transferred into the Sankey fermenter and set it on the glycol to bring to pitch...

What I did for beer today

Finally got my cold Brew and new faucets all hooked up. Took a while to track down all the gas leaks.. The infuser works well. Sorta. It does what you'd think it does, but the nitro bubbles seem to dissipate faster than I'd expect. It is adjustable but increasing the nitrogen flow just seems...

    Pressure canning starter wort

Finally used the first of my canned wurt to make a starter. Easiest damn starter I've ever made.. poured the canned wurt into a sanitized flask, leaving most of the hot break in the jar. Used Brewers friend to calculate the top up to reach my intended og. Pitched two packs of wlp004 (they are...

What I did for beer today

Changed out all the lines on my keezer to help balance the system. Added a stout faucet with beer gas line. Added a nitro cold Brew faucet (second stout faucet) hooked to a nitro infuser and dedicated nitrogen line. Now I just need to make some cold Brew and brew a stout! Woot!
