    Clear, low ABV GF beer?

I make GF session beers all the time. Just take a recipe and cut the fermentables in half. When I write recipes I usually write a session partial mash recipe, usually with 3.3 lbs of sorghum and no more than a pound and a half of sugar or other fermentables, before I write a full recipe to taste...

    GF Oatmeal Stout (partial mash)

Yep, I just kegged my stout last weekend and got a 1.028 on it. So that has been my delema with millet all-grain batches all three finished 1.026-1.032 after two weeks primary and two weeks secondary. So I've been getting good apparent conversion in the mash but not complete enough for the yeast...

    GF Oatmeal Stout (partial mash)

Here is a picture of my pre boil wort from my all-grain Grouse malts chocolate oatmeal stout. I used 16 lbs total in my grain bill (not counting the 1.6lbs of rice hulls for lauter) and ended up with an OG 1.062. I used 2 lbs of medium roast and 1 lb of dark roast. I also added some Vienna...

Show us your sculpture or brew rig

Just finished my three tier gravity brew sculpture. I installed three 60,000BTU burners with the lower burner completely removable for extract brewing. I brazed all the heat shields in place and added casters for ease of movement. Will add a propane bottle shelf later.

    Gluten Free Belgian Strong

Anyone have issues with the yeast? Liquid yeasts are not usually GF due to the regular beer wort in the starter. I have to use dry yeast like safbrew T-58 for this style.

First Wort hopping, anyone do this?

Thanks for the replies. I will start trying it on my next all-grain batch in a couple weeks. I guess I'll just start experimenting with amounts, it amazing how the same beer can taste so different with subtle changes in grains, hops, steeping and boiling times. I've tried the same recipe 6...

First Wort hopping, anyone do this?

I've been reading about FWH and would like to try it since everything I read states the bitterness is smoother. My question is why don't calculators calculate any bitterness when you add in FWH numbers? I don't want to over bitter my batch. Thinking of a nice Amarillo/Citra IPA or Pale ale. My...

    First gluten free extract brew

Another ingredient that might help is some roasted Buckwheat Groats. I usually steep up to 2 lbs of Buckwheat I lightly roast in the oven at home. Buckwheat is good addition for head retention.

    Malted GF grains

Exactly what she did for me. The exact opposite for Colorado malting, I called and asked questions, not noob questions, just mashing questions and amylase enzyme questions so I could correctly calculate my OG and get the most out of my grist. They suggest on their website to double the grain...

    Malted GF grains

Actually no, it took me two months to find only two companies that sell GF malted grains, Colorado malting has a cross contamination probability since they do regular malts, not to mention the rude customer service. It took a bit of waiting to finally hear from Grouse but then getting the grains...

All Grain Amber Ale (my first ever homebrew)

I just used the same, modified to my 11.5lb grist of millet malt, buckwheat malt and rolled oats. Used 9gal pretreated water to get 7gal boil and 5.5gal to carboy. No stuck sparge, even with a pound of rice hulls. I used a copper pipe manifold I made since the holes on my false bottom are too...

    Malted GF grains

I have recently found a company that sells malted millet and buckwheat in different roasts. I ordered 75lbs to play with and brewed my first all-grain on national homebrewers day. Took longer than standard mashes but everything worked with a couple of minor issues to tweak for next time. But I...

    Gluten Free Beer Ingredient List

Sorghum is the only gluten free extract out now. Unless you use beet sugar or Belgian candy. Although I just found a Colorado company that sells malted gluten free grains, millet and buckwheat. Grouse Malting and Roasting company. Awesome malts. I ordered 75lbs, a bit of all they offer. Did my...
