Agreed, wasn't the worst thing I have ever tasted, but definitely wasn't the best. Which sucked because I passed it for 4 years on my way back and forth from home to MSU.

I tried doing that with my IC before I got my plate chiller. It worked for sure, but I felt like I was going through so much ice that it wasn't worth the $ (if you are going to buy) or the freezer space if you are going to freeze your own Good luck either way

I'm not an engineer by any means, but couldn't you just throw a few 45lb bench press weights to distribute the weight and make it a little less top heavy? Either way, be careful when moving that thing around haha

Homebrewing.org's store front is only 10 mins from my house, I've gotten all my equipment from them, from extract to all grain and am super happy with everything. Although I've never had anything shipped, so I can't really comment on that.

I know a lot of brewers that have had a ton of success with IC, but I just couldn't seem to get good results from it. I'm just happy to have an alternative that works for me.
