coppertubingsales.com review / immersion chiller project

Nothing wrong with type K or L, just unnecessary to spend the extra money for this type of application.

    Check out my wort chiller

Wow, I really didn't mean to make you spend more time doing all those calculations for such a small change in results. I'm glad I'm only cooling 5 gal. at a time...good luck to ya 67coupe390!

    Applying Physics/Engineering to IC design

Good call...I was measuring the wrong thing. Volumetric heat capacity is the amount of heat energy needed to raise the temperature of a given substance by a certain temperature interval. (I love Wikipedia)

    Applying Physics/Engineering to IC design

Well I've found a definite answer to #4. That is, of course, in addition to what Yuri_Rage had posted (which is perfectly accurate, I just wanted to find out exactly what the differences were) The volumetric heat capacity of water is a staggering 4.184 J, while Copper is 3.45 J. So it seems...

    Applying Physics/Engineering to IC design

I know a lot of you will say that I'm taking this whole thing too far, but we all bring to brewing the skills, knowledge, and curiosity that we apply to the rest of our lives. Plus I really like to ponder questions like this... All things being equal (water temp, air temp, amount of liquid...

    Brown Bottles smell after baking

Is there any concern about rinse agents, like Jet-Dry? I'm guessing that because it's safe to eat off of dishes that have been in contact with a rinse agent that it's probably safe for our beer, but prolonged exposure (ie. conditioning time) might change the effects...Anyone have any thoughts?

20 feet too short for a chiller?

Do take into consideration the type of tubing that is being sold at the hardware stores. There is a substantial price difference between refrigeration, type L, and type K tubing. For all intensive purposes (and correct me if I'm wrong) brewers won't need anything but refrigeration rated tubing.
