New Jersey Visiting Picattiny Arsenal in NJ

Oh, also looks like North Jersey Homebrew and Montville Cask and Kettle are close by. One better than the other if I only have time to hit one? (Still need to check on hours to see if I can even make one of them)

New Jersey Visiting Picattiny Arsenal in NJ

Looks like for bottle shops, the only thing showing up on google is Bottle King in Ledgewood or Morris Plains. Pictures don't look like they sell much more than mass produced 6 packs. Anywhere else that should be on my radar? Sadly, I am arriving late on Sunday, and leaving early Wednesday...

New Jersey Visiting Picattiny Arsenal in NJ

Thanks everyone. Of everything listed above, Taphouse 15 was the only one I found when googling stuff near Picatinny, HBT comes through strong again! Sadly, I will be there Sun - Wed, so will need to take a look at hours. Taphouse 15 might end up being the most solid bet, although I do like...

New Jersey Visiting Picattiny Arsenal in NJ

I am going to Picatinny Arsenal in NJ week after next. I have never been to NJ before, except for passing thru to places further North. Are there any breweries I should be visiting? Any good bottle shops? I am guessing there isn't a whole lot around there??? Looks like it isn't far from...

    American Stout Crocker's NY Stout

We decided to brew this beer again last weekend, been two years since we last made it. Just to screw things up and change enough variables that we won’t know exactly what makes this version better or worse than the other, we used the following: Upped the Black Barley by a quarter pound...

    American Stout Crocker's NY Stout

This beer was named after a frat brother of a friend of mine. Crocker started a Hop Farm in upstate NY a few years back, and he sends us hops each year to brew with. This batch was brewed with only his whole leaf hops. We had a few issues, as we left the hops loose in the boil, and ran into...

    Rauchbier Harry Says 4% Ain't ****

I brewed this beer on July 17, 2015, and it placed 3rd in the first round of NHC in 2016. It did not medal in the final round of NHC this year. I didn't enter it into any other competitions because it tasted too good, and I wasn't willing to part with any of it! ;-) I brewed this as an 11...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

Would someone be willing to make me a similar file of neck labels if I e-mailed them my logo file? I have downloaded both Gimp and Inkscape but have had zero luck trying to teach myself how to use either of them. I can make basic labels in word and excel for the bottle, simple rectangles, but...

Sacchra 50 Malt, how can I use it

I got some at NHC. used it last weekend, but haven't tasted the beer yet. We made an American Stout, and used the Sacc 50 in place of the Crystal 40. According to the guy at the booth, it is a good replacement for the crystal 40, and doesn't get in the way of the hops the same way the crystal...

Fermentation Freezer vs conical + glycol chiller

I currently have two chest freezers, and am also playing with going the route of 2 conicals to replace them. I need some space back. How does the Glycol work? Does it pump through a sleeve on the outside, or through coils on the inside? I saw some SS buckets at NHC that had a coil inside...

    Show Us Your Label

Thanks jimdkc! My logo was done by a friend in Adobe Illustrator on a Mac. I didn't see him do any of it, he just e-mailed it to me when it was done. unfortunately, he is in Dubai for the next few years, so I am on my own to figure all this out. Your primer is a good start for me! I will...

The "We'll fix your label for you" thread

Sweet, I want to make some labels myself. How do you get that template into a program to make them? I saw on another thread where most people were using either Gimp or Inkscape. I plan to download this weekend to try to figure this out, but was specifically curious about how to do a neck...

    Show Us Your Label

I have never used either Gimp or Inkscape, but it seems to be the go to I have seen here. Which is easier for someone with no experience doing graphics work? Or are they basically the same? Is there any sort of a template I can get to do labels for the nexks of the bottles. I have seen a...

Craft Beer distribution will soon be a thing of the past...

I read a few months ago where AB was going to give up distribution rights in the US all together in order to make this deal go through. They would retain distribution rights in the rest of the world. Time will tell I suppose...

    No carbonation yet

How much beer is in the keg? I had one when I first started kegging that wouldn't carb. Apparently, my beer came up to the bottom of the gas in tube, and therefore wouldn't carb. I emptied a couple of pints out, and it carbed right up... I now leave beer in the fermenter just to assure that...
