    Another Wee Heavy Recipe Critique

I'd love to hear what you all think of this recipe. It's now conditioning in secondary, so I can't change it, but I'd still love to hear initial thoughts. Thanks! Wee Heavy Ale - 5.5gallon batch 11.25lb Golden Promise 1.25lb Smoked Golden Promise (home smoked over alder, not very...

    1st batch recipe

I calculated an ABV of 7.9% with a drop from an OG of 1.060 to 1.001. Am I doing this wrong?

    Chocolate Espresso Stout

I used a 1/2 cup, about a handful of beans to the secondary. No grinding and they're easy to keep out of the brew. This was for a 5 gallon batch. You could definitely taste the coffee, but it wasn't overpowering. I thought it blended quite well.

    Chocolate Espresso Stout

I've actually dry-hopped with espresso beans and it worked very well. The coffee flavor comes through without adding any bitterness or ruining the head.

Maple Nut Brown Ale not so good

It may be an infected bottle. Give a few more a try before you do anything rash. I've had a batch where a few of the bottles were much worse than the rest.

    Unknown mega hop harvest

You need to know how far back you can place them. 30's? 70's? etc. I have some hops from the Coburg area that were planted in the 30's. Almost all the hops in the area from that time period will be Cluster hops. They're a good all-around aroma hop, from what I've garnered from others. I...

    Labeling Help

I do mine about 3.5" x 4" and get 4/page. I have them printed up at Staples on a nice laser printer for about 12 cents/label (8c/label if color copies are on sale). I do my photography editing in Photoshop and then use Microsoft Publisher to do layout. If you've got MS Publisher it's quite...

    My latest label w/flyfishing theme

Thanks, Phillip, I'll give that a shot. I thought the drop shadow was too deep as well. The outer line gives it an edge that looks a bit too hard as well. Greenspey

    My latest label w/flyfishing theme

The font looks bad in this .jpg but it looks much better printed out.

    Winter_Run_-_Label

My latest label in my line of fly-fishing themed brews. It's a Bavarian Wheat with holiday spices. It's just too bad that it's USC colors! Go Ducks!

    ID Identifying wild hops

My buddy has a number of wild hops plants on his grandpa's old farm. We're in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and he's sure that they've been there since the 1960's at least. How can I identify what kind of hops they are? He's willing to give them all to me in exchange for some brew. He's...
