Do lines run through the center wall of a side by side?

I think it's a GE- I want to know if I can cut the center out to equalize the temp between the fridge and freezer side and to make more room. I know that I have to keep the front pretty rigid to maintain the seal on both doors, I was just wondering if anyone else has done anything like this.

Two questions about a cool mashed stout

I brewed a recipe that I dreamed up last Friday night (while waiting for Hanah) my problem is that I mashed at about 151. I realized that this would give me a highly fermentable but thin beer so I added a couple of quarts of 180 degree water about 25 min into the mash. When I checked it at...

Wiring, stirbar, magnet, power questions about stir plate

Ok, I have tried to build a stir plate (3 actually). One of the fans appears to have a speed control on it (Pictured). One has two small magnets and the other two have a semi horse shoe shaped magnet (also pictured). My stir bars are square shaped that I paid too much for from the LHBS and...

Auction ending- hate to see these get away

But I have 3 keggles and have yet to do an all-grain. These would be sooooo nice to do large batches in. It would probably take a little engineering but I don't see why they couldn't be used for a MLT and the other to boil. I hate being poor!! I could sell my keggles for these....

    Loud Fridge

I just plugged my beer fridge/ future kegorator in yesterday and noticed that it was pretty loud. I didn't think much of it at first because I figured that it was working hard to cool down. Today it is still loud and seems to run all the time. The inside has cooled down but I want to know if...

    Thinking about getting these

I could probably pick them up relatively cheap. A conical for one and a boil kettle for the other? I don't think I could go wrong if I get them at a good price. What do ya'll think. They are steam kettles so I have no idea exactly how they work but I will go see them and come up with...

    I'm celelbrating!

:mug: I just found out that our offer on a new house was accepted. It gives me a bigger house with 4 acres (w/ 2 irrigation wells) and a 1000 sq ft workshop (brewhaus?). It's 700 sq ft downstairs with a 300 sq ft upstairs. I am stoked!!! I know that this is going to throw a wrench in the...

    Controller for fridge/freezer?

I recently scored an Amana chest freezer and a side by side GE fridge/freezer. I think I would like to use the Freezer side on the GE for a kegorator and just replace the water/ice dispensor with my taps. What I am wondering is how does the temp controller work with a fridge/freezer combo? If...

What kind of ink works best?

I have tried making labels with my home printer and had to be so careful about not getting the front wet when applying. Had anyone tried printing with pigment vs. dye? I believe pigment takes longer to dry when it is printed but is more moister resistant. I would like something that I could...

Cooler vs. Keggle for Mash Tun

After seeing that the 50 qt ice cubes are $20 a target I got to thinking... (famous last words) Here's where I am- I have three keggles, two thermometers, two false bottoms three ball valves. I have yet to do an AG (I have two more extract kits on the shelf to brew) I am cheap and wanting...

    Hop recommendations

I live in North Carolina and am looking at ordering 2 of each of the following: Centennial, Chinook, and Fuggle. I want to know if I should go with Willamette instead of the Fuggle. I want a combo that will allow me to brew quite a few different styles of beer. Here is a list of what is...

    Conditioning/Carbing in keg question

I want to buy some kegs and rack some Stouts into them. I do not have a whole keg dispending setup at this time so it will be a great way to condition them and leave them alone. Another advantage I see is that eventually SWMBO is going to ask, "Why do you keep brewing? Aren't all of those...

    Working on my skills

I created a label for my first beer (a stout) with PowerPoint and have since spent some time working with Paint.net, a free photo editing program. Here is something I created that may well become my avatar. It just screams ghetto! I haven't found a way to do good text with this though...

Keg group buy in North Carolina- pick up during the beerfest in Apr?

We can get 25 kegs for ~350 delivered my math says it's about $15 per keg (but I'm no mathmagician) Is anybody down for going in on a pallet? With the beer fest going on in Raleigh next month we could plan it around that so that anyone driving in for the event could pick them up at that time...

    Anybody used one of these?

It is a 7 gallon water jug. I have 3 that I bought for camping. Mine are #2 plastic and although the outside is scratched the inside is untouched. Is this a cheap alternative to glass for beer? (not going to bulk age for a long time in it)

Have you ever taken a beer back?

I would not hesitate to send a beer back in a restaurant if I knew it was off but I got a Young's Oatmeal Stout for tonight and after pouring it I read the label. The part that got my attention was that it is supposed to have a creamy headlooking down nothing- no head not even a film of...

Brewing program on History Channel tonight

It's on 7 P.M. Eastern time. From the info I think it is about Dogfish Head. Just thought ya'll might want to DVR it-

What the wildest thing you tried to ferment (GF with a yeast infection doesn't count)

A couple weeks ago after my first brew and cider I looked at everything- gatorade, tazo brambleberry tea, pink lemonade. I still haven't ruled out the tea but I think I might use it in a keg after killing the yeast on a run of apfelwein. That tea is GOOD!

    Recipe Question (experimental- mesquite beer)

Recipe Question (experimental- mesquite beer) ________________________________________ I want to brew a 3 gallon batch this weekend with the goal of using mesquite chips in the secondary. I want a low ABV (so I might go ~4 gallons) but do not care about the color as much as something unique...
