    Costco apple juice is back!

I'm on batch #71. Been batching the Kirkland brand in a 1/2 barrel keg and putting out 15 gallons every month since I started. The Costco Kirkland brand isn't from concentrate like most already know. I know some think it might be pricey but it's from what I've seen a more quality juice without...

    Costco apple juice is back!

Some may already know this but I was in Costco today and I always check to see if maybe they started selling the 100% Kirkland brand apple juice again. Well, it's back at least at my Costco. The first time I've seen it in 14 months. It's in a different shaped 1 gallon plastic bottle and has a...

    back sweetning with splenda

I've back sweetened with Stevia and Truvia. About 1/4 to 1/3c to a 5 gallon batch using Stevia. Truvia a little less because it tends to be sweeter tasting. Truvia for me at least has a more natural sweet flavor. So that's what I use.

    Heating elements

Hey all, I've been reading and brewing silently in the shadows for a couple years now. I'm looking at going electric and wonder opinions on heating elements. I have been looking at the Keg King 2200w SS heating element. Any thoughts would be great. Also, opinions on one vs. two elements...

I mounted my bottle opener to the front door of my kegorator using boron magnets I took out of an old hard drive. They are amazingly strong for there size.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I've made about eight 5-gallon batches of this. I experimented with when to bottle but typically will leave the batch in the 5 gallon carboy for no less than 2 months untouched. I've left several batches for the full three months untouched before bottling and it tastes really good. I leave it...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I put my yeast at the beginning and let the whole thing set in the Carboy for 3 months. No secondary racking or anything. It starts to ferment at about 36 to 40 hrs and gets really cloudy for about 2 or 3 weeks before it starts to clear. At about 3 months on the batch you can see I bottled it...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I bottled 48 bottles from a 5 gallon batch back on Dec. 29th. I bottled 18 straight out of the carboy and the other 30 I conditioned then bottled. Here's a pic of the first few straight from the carboy.

Adding chocolate or cocoa to red wine

Hello All, I'm new to wine making. Only on my 2nd wine. I've tasted several commercial wines which, on the label, say they contain "hints of chocolate". I kind of like the flavor and was curious if anyone had made any wine using either cocoa or chocolate. I'm interested in knowing when...
