    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

I really wonder what their using. Really wish there was another flavoring that was exact to Nesquick.

Interesting. I agree, the cacao nibs is not the flavor of shake, or at least not that he "dry nibbed" flavor. I'll have to try the creme de cacao flavoring. I'll be curious to see what you find out.

You might be close. Problem is, at least for me, extract tastes so much different. There was always a sort of off taste with my extract beers, and I think it had a lot to do with the malt. Oh well though, something to motivate you into All Grain.

So honestly, what would you say tasted the best? Nesquick, chocolate cream, or the chocolate cream and creme de cacao combo? Next batch I don't want to use the nesquick, as i have to clear the keg wasting a few pints.

    Gabf

Agree with this. GABF is a s*** show. Plus after 4 to 5 samples, your palate is a mess.

Liquor laws. Whats up with that?

3 beers at a brewery in NM is new to me. Must be loosely enforced. The liquor laws in certain states are absolutely stupid.

    Albuquerque Brews?

Turtle Mountain in Rio Rancho is pretty solid too. They have some killer pizza.

Awesome. I still have this beer with the Nesquick on tap, but I'm like you, next time I don't want to add it. Think I'll try this instead.

What is growing on my grapefruit?!

Yep, that's normal too. Obviously your sugars from the fruit are fermenting. Going off the recipe was an excellent move. If it works out, you learned something. If it sucks and tastes nasty, you learned something.

What is growing on my grapefruit?!

Ive used fruit a lot, and sometimes I get that pelicle looking stuff on top. Never had an issue with souring or anything. Your alcohol should contain what your worried about since its post fermentation.

I did, added 2 oz nesquick syrup. I did have to clear it with gelatin in the keg though.

didn't change it from what I posted.

Final product. Very happy with this beer.

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

Im with you. Like I said previously, their is a beer company that went to a grocery store and bought hundreds of boxes of a chocolate cereal to put in their mash. I cant remember who it was. That said, beer companies are doing crazy ish these days to get flavors that draw people in. Hopefully...

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

Tasting this now. It tastes and smells exactly like Boulder Shake. Without doing a side by side taste test, Im not sure of the exact differences, if any. However, the nesquick syrup clouded up my beer a bit, so it has a brown hue now, vs when it was in the carboy it was an obvious dark color...

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

Someone was using cereal in their mash. Cant remember the brewery, but its crazy times in the beer industry these days. Artificial flavoring is used in beer a lot of the time, or most of the time I feel. Whatever the flavoring is, its damn close to Nesquick, But probably not Nesquick. Be...

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

Yeah would definitely be an issue for someone trying to bottle with this syrup. I did it at kegging, so im not worried about any more fermentation. I'll be curious to see the results of those that will use the chocolate extracts. I will say, when I smelled the nesquick today in a beer...

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

I was worried about that at first, but it dissolves nicely actually.

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

We'll see. I just keged this and added 2oz of the Nestle Syrup. Smells identical to the original as the keg was filling up. They probably dont use Nestle product, but there is a flavoring, there must be. Technically, I dont think they have to list anything they use do they? Otherwise, You'd...

    Boulder "Shake" Chocolate Porter

There is no way their not using Nestle quick in this beer. 2 weeks now on 5 oz cacao nibs and this tastes identical to their version, minus the aroma. Even at 5oz of nibs I only get a slight cacao chocolate nose to it. I'm thinking of doing something stupid. I think im going to add 2oz of...
