    Ferm Wrap on Anvil Brewbucket

Just purchased a Ferm Wrap for my Anvil Brewbucket. The fit isn't exact on the brewbucket. If I cut sections of the Ferm Wrap in order to fit the brewbucket (i.e., cuts around the handles, lid snaps and drain) will the Ferm Wrap still work? Are there certain ways in which to cut the Ferm Wrap...

    Odd question about glycol

I spilled glycol on the driveway when disassembling a commercial cooler over the weekend. The glycol left a large stain on the driveway. Is there a cleaner that can help breakdown the glycol stain?

    I need a glycol chiller

I'm 95% sure I'm going to buy this: BrewBuilt™ IceMaster Max 4 Glycol Chiller I don't want to wait too long given the weather is heating up and my cooling chamber died on me. Its hard to beat the price which includes the pumps. Anyone want to either encourage me to buy unit or steer me in...

the BJCP so called certification drives me crazy

It drives me crazy when I submit the same beer to two local competitions; each competition within 2 weeks of each other. And, in one competition my average score is 22 and comments say the beer is out of style. And in the other competition, I receive a score of 37 and get a red ribbon. Those...

You know your a home brewer when....

{revisited} The only glassware you have in the kitchen cabinet are pint glasses and mugs... Your IPhone has more pictures of your brew rig and wort in your fermenters than pictures of your kids... Your calendar of upcoming events only shows brew festivals and competitions...

    Oddball question...

I have several corny kegs which are a bit on the older side. They still perform as expected but the rubber collars are slowly breaking down; when lifting the kegs, my hands end up black from the rubber. Is there a product that can seal the rubber?

Yet another reason to love Bells Brewery...

Bell’s brews some great beers. I especially love the Two Heart Ale, the Porter and the Kalamazoo Stout. But, as a really cheap SOB, I really appreate how freaking easy it is to remove the labels from their bottles. Just soak the bottle in warm water and an hour later the labels usually fall...

    Odd question to ask...

I brew with a 3-tier rig in my garage. Last year, I moved from TX (2 car garage) to CO (3 car garage). My wife, basically, said the third car area is all mine for setting up my brewing operation; and I have taken full advantage of the space. The garage floor in the TX home was solid cement...

A Thank You to Ink Bird

Just want to say thanks to Ink Bird. I reported an issue to Ink Bird with my 310T where the power to the pod was not shutting off even through the set temperature was reached. After exchanging a few HBT messages, they sent me a replacement controller. Very good customer service!

    Clean out pipe in driveway

I recently bought a new house and it has a clean out pipe in the top of the driveway. I brew in my garage. In my old house, I drained the excess water from my chiller down the driveway as I cool the wort. In my new house, I was thinking I could just put the chiller hose down the clean out...

MillerCoors sued for marketing Blue Moon as craft

I wonder if this will lead to other lawsuits related to big brewery owned brands (i.e., Shock Top, etc.) marketed as Craft beers. http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2015/05/millercoors-sued-for-marketing-blue-moon-as-craft.html

Top Tier shelf not big enough

I have a Blichmann Top Tier brewstand. It has two shelves, one for HLT and the other for the Mash tun, and a propane burner for the boil kettle. My HLT kettle (7 gallon) and cooler mash tun (10 gallon) fit perfectly on the shelves. The size of the kettle and mash tun has limited me to...

    More crap electronics

Not long ago, I purchased on Amazon: "DROK® Digital AC 100-300V 100A Voltage Current Voltmeter Ammeter 110V 220V Volt Amperage Power Monitor Ampere Amp Panel Mount Meter LCD Dual Displ" Over the weekend, I installed the device. It worked fine for about 3 hours and then just went dead. The...

    ssr trials and tribulations

I just finished my control panel over this past weekend - pictures to come later. I can't tell you how many hours I spent on this forum researching and learning the proper way to build a control panel; and hopefully I did it correctly. One thing I noticed in many of the electric brewing...

    volts/amps meter wiring question

After considering the +'s and -'s, I've decided to put into my 240v control panel build a combined volts and amps meter. Here is the one I purchased: http://http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DVH64HW/ref=pe_385040_127541850_TE_item I believe there is a thread that shows how one member wired his...

    Syl-1512a

I'm in the process of building out a control panel. I plan to use a Auber Instrument SYL-1512A for basically a temperature read out from the boil kettle (which is gas and not electric). I plan to connect an alarm switch to it as well. I assume I do not need to hook up an SSR and Contactor...

Use of Coils in Control Panel

Let me start by saying I'm not an electrician nor very good at doing electrical related projects. So....I've decided to build a control panel which would be used to manage a RIMS tube element, HLT element, Boil temp (I'm still using gas), and pump. I've viewed several electrical diagrams from...

    Prep garage for brew day

Just curious what others do to prep their garages on brew day (for those who brew in their garages!). Aside from the obvious tasks of cleaning the brew equipment, moving the cars and sweeping the floor when as needed, is there anything else you do; i.e., sanitize the floor, get brew music...
