    NB Bottles: Threat or Menace?

This is the first I've heard of them failing for others as well. I broke 5/6 new Belgium bottles with my wing capper one of my first brews. I've used them since with no broken bottles, but sometimes I hear an unsettling glass grinding noise. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

How many gallons of Mead 2014 Edition!

Add another 6 gallons of traditional blackberry honey, 4 gallons of blueberry melomel, and 1 gallon of dandelion metheglin. 605.5 + 11 = 616.5

    Amarillo/Simcoe IPA

Fellow KC brewer here, hello! Recipe looks solid. Amarillo is one of my favorite flavor/aroma hops. I've only just begun experimenting with Simcoe, but everything I've had so far seems great for giving that nice pine characteristic. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out for ya. I'm...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

Wow, no one was lying about 3711. It's a monster... 2 weeks into fermentation and it's 84% attenuated from 1.078>1.012, and it's still chugging along. Taste test today revealed a ton of tank 7 character. A little boozy, but hopefully a heavy dry hopping and some aging will mellow that out...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

Let the brew day commence! I'll post my actuals here too. Ended up going with 3711. Edit: Hit 1.078 for my pitch OG! I consider that a success considering Boulevard is 1.071... So I'm probably looking at an 8.5% beer here, assuming 80% attenuation. Potentially 9%+ if 3711 goes beast-mode and...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

I'm going to be brewing a batch of my clone attempt this week. Here's what we're looking at. this was for 5.5 gallons into the fermenter and accounting for a 65% efficiency, because I'm still learning my system. Rahr Harrington Pale Malt 75% (13.5lbs) Briess Flaked Maize 20% (3.5lbs ) Rahr...

Boulevard Harvest Dance Wheat Wine: All-grain Clone

I appreciate it ya'll! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you Hresvelgr, keep us posted. It really is a delicious beer. Bearfoot, Steven Pauwels said his main goal with this beer was for it to actually have a lot of wine characteristics and complexity. So I imagine that bottle priming with...

Boulevard Harvest Dance Wheat Wine: All-grain Clone

So I'm going to be using this thread as an open text for my notes while recreating Boulevard's Harvest Dance Wheat Wine. Here's the baseline information we need. Target OG: 1.086+ Target FG: 1.017 IBU: 38-42 Target ABV: 9.5% Color (EBC): 23 37% American 2-row pale malt 25% White wheat malt...

Dogfish Head's American Beauty - clone thread

Hey all, I'm creating this thread as an attempt to narrow in on a recipe to clone Dogfish Head's American Beauty, an Imperial Pale Ale brewed with granola. I hope this thread is going to serve as an open forum for us to discuss the attributes of the beer itself, and offer input on how we can...

    Homemade Mash Paddle Pics

Wow, truly impressive work everyone! If it wasn't for everyone's great woodworking and ideas, I wouldn't have ventured to make my own mash paddle. However, I present to you, my first mash paddle ever! I'll be cutting it and shaping/sanding it tomorrow, so I'll keep you all posted. Here's what I...

    Hoppy Belgian. What hops?

Tank 7 and Saison-Brett by Boulevard both use Amarillo hops, and I plan on dry hopping my saison with an oz of them soon. I think you're on the right track and should be just fine!

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

They only called it Saison. I think it is the tweaked recipe of their past Saison release. The ABV was 6 just like the old one, but I never had a chance to sample the past offering. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/423/22321/ Also, they have a new IPA called Mid-Coast IPA in the tasting room...

Saison Boulevard Smokestack Series Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale Clone

Just got back from the boulevard tour and ran into Steven Pauwels in the tasting room. I asked him about the difference between the Saison-Brett and Tank 7. Specifically, I asked why their website said they used Magnum, Bravo, and Amarillo in the Tank 7, but only Magnum and Amarillo in the...
