    I hate when I'm stupid

I usually don't rehydrate my dry yeast. Usually, I just sprinkle it on top of the wort when it's cool enough. So yesterday, I decided to rehydrate a packet of Nottingham for the Red Rye I had just brewed. I boiled a cup of water. Put it in a measuring cup. Covered it with saran wrap...

    Yet another "First AG" thread

Yep. After 7 years of making what I consider very good extract brews, I'm taking the plunge today. This will be my first AG batch! I'm keeping it simple. Brewing up a batch of Edwort's Haus Ale. I have my checklist printed out and ready to go and I'm off to the LHBS to get my grains...

Help with Kenmore Elite 795.7608* Kegerator Conversion

    Lag time

Wow, I've read all kinds of posts and stories about long lag times with White Labs liquid yeast if you didn't make a starter. I brewed a Franziskaner Hefe Weisse last night and pitched White Labs WLP300 Hefe Weissen yeast without making a starter. Just warmed it to room temperature and shook...

    Boilover!!!

ROFL. I guess I'm a brewer now. My first batch went completely without a boilover or any other types of accidents. I cooked my second batch tonight and it managed to boil over. I guess I'm initiated now. heh. At least I noticed it when it was about to and dipped some out with a clean sauce...
