American Pale Ale American Pale Ale

I think I finally figured out why my beer turned out oxidized during the competition. I racked my brain about what could have possibly gone wrong, and the only possible explanation is that I did not purge my Blichmann beer gun before filling up my bottles for competition. This could have caused...

American Pale Ale American Pale Ale

After sparge I had 7 gallons of wort to boil. The excess is to account for boil loss and trub loss during transfer from primary to secondary. I have never tried to 'top up' during an all-grain brew. Let me know how it turns out.

    Force Carbonation System

Just wanted to do a quick follow up. The carbonated water turned out great, even if it was right from the faucet. I may use spring water next time. 30psi of CO2 worked great for getting it into solution. I dialed it down to about 14psi and my picnic tap has no problem with the pressure. My wife...

    Force Carbonation System

My wife has been hounding me to get some soda water started. So far, this thread has been the most useful. I am going to be using a 5gal keg of de-chlorinated water. From what I am reading here, I will need to chill the keg (as I would for a keg of beer) and then carbonate at 25-30PSI for about...

    Beer has a funk

I just brewed a Belgian Witbier with WLP-400 and coriander/orange peel/chamomile/pepper additions (check out BierMuncher's recipe). My wife says it stinks, but I dont mind it at all. The beer tastes phenomenal and she agrees with me on that front. I just think it's the yeast that gives it this...

    Just Another Brew Day...(Pics)

Got this kegged up the other day. The flavors are an awesome mix of summer. The citrus really comes front and center after a few days. I used WLP-400 and was really happy that my FG was 1.009. The cloudiness is there, which I was really worried about, because I forgot to add my cup o' flower in...
