Squirting from the back side of the spigot

I was recently given a fridge that has seen life as a kegerator. Yay! With it came a spigot as well as the shank to fit through the door. The issue is, the collar...the end bit on the shank that the spigot itself fits into, which is then tightened down...is a source of leakage. Not a few...

    Different gas for stouts?

A buddy of mine (who used to work for an air gas supplier) said that if I'm going to have stouts I'm going to need to have a "beer gas" setup...that is, CO2 with a mixture of nitrogen. Is this true? I knew I'd need something special for, say, a Guinness clone...but is this true of really any...

    *Too* inexpensive regulator?

I've been looking around for regulators to use for some corney kegs. Everywhere I've looked, new regulators are like 70-90ish. Then I found this one on brewersdiscount.com http://www.brewersdiscount.com/item102533.ctlg I'm not poo-poo'ing on them, I'm just a little worried/nervous when...

I brewed my first hefe on Saturday, and everything seemed fine when I left early this morning for work. I was in heaven on Sunday as I watched the yeast tumble and swirl in a beautiful dance. I praised her as she burped, and even went so far as to clean up the spit-up she did. Ahhh, youngins...

Several kegs from one co2 tank?

So I've got a couple of probably pretty easy questions: 1.) Is there an upper limit to the number of kegs that can be attached to one co2? I'm not planning on something ridiculous...I've only got two corney kegs at the moment but the ULTIMATE goal is to have a chest freezer with a swapped...

    Too little water?

Good to know. The two recipes I've done have both recommended like 7-10 days conditioning in the bottle and they're ready to drink. The ale I made (and I barely call it a homebrew, it was malt extract, table sugar and yeast) was quite tasty. Realistically (and I know this varies from person...

    Too little water?

I've just bottled my second brew (a hopefully yummy chocolate stout that'll be ready to drink on St. Patrick's day), but about the day after I put my wort in the primary fermenter I felt like something was wrong in the volume of beer that was brewing. A family emergency came up and basically...
