    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I used the bread yeast in the JAOM and a Blueberry I have in tertiary right now. I plan on bottling it very soon! The Blueberry/Cherry that was photographed was done using the EC-1118. Same cinnamon stick and clove spices...Changed fruit and yeast.

I thought the Carlo Rossi jugs were 4L bottles. They are larger than my 1 gallon jugs I get my Organic Apple Juice in. Other than that, I bottled another variant of this JAOM. Used Blueberry and Cherries I had left over from Blueberry and Cherry melomels. This is a Blueberry/Cherry Melomel...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Just bottled my true JAOM. Bread yeast and all. This stuff is good before the two month mark!! The glass tinted bottle was full last night! Hahaha The pic of the gallon is in a tertiary carboy. You can see the bee sticker all the way through it and reading was easy also!!

My next JAOM, bread yeast and all. I had not looked at her in a week or so...So clear! Not exactly sure the days of fermenting...Will check later.

I know, I had a hard time listening growing up also! haha This is the final product...I am eager to let it sit a bit as it taste a little like Cherry medicine at the moment. Hmmm hm it is tasty already though!!

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Mine?(Probably the post above mine haha) Like exactly 30 days. It was really clear(More clear than my last batch, which was also my first.) and most of the fruit had fallen. I just got the last of that 750 bottle into the gallon and plugged it back up. I plan on letting it sit for another...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

So, I have encountered a little problem. I made a gallon of cherry JAOM variant and there was so much fruit and lees that after I finished racking off 2/3 of the gallon the last bit was really cloudy. I poured the rest out through paper towels because the siphon hole kept getting plugged by...

Never watched Dr. Who but what looks so odd?

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

So, with that last gallon I bottled, to avoid further fermentation I have placed it in the refrigerator. I did not want to add anything to it to stop that and was wondering if I brought it out after a week or so would it still ferment? I know I bottled way early and do not want explosions...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I was way too eager. Only about half my fruit had fallen when I racked it into secondary...Being my first time to ferment, I think next I will be able to put off my anticipation for the next three(Cherry Vanilla JAOM, Strict JAOM, and a Blueberry JAOM). lol Yours look good also!!

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

That is a nice amount! I changed the yeast, but used same amount of honey, and everything. Thanks for this! I thought about doing one of those web mead calculators to see what I got...but this works just as well! Hahaha :ban:

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

It never came through? I sent you a PM here...Maybe it is lost in the tubes? I have not finished updating my site with and you can not directly email me from the site. Maybe there was a typo? Either way, just let me know what you were wondering about...Thanks and later! It finally showed up...

Um, kind of...They are vinyl decals I cut using my plotter. I make signs, vehicle lettering and junk and thought this would look much more awesome than printed labels. If anyone would like some labels like this let me know lol It is what I do and we can knock some out! :) TheHumbleConundrum.com

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Being the eager beaver I am, I bottled this after sitting in secondary for a week. A buddy of mine brought over a store bought commercial mead(Texas Renaissance Festival Traditional Mead) and we gave mine a side by side comparison. The color was almost identical to what was purchased, and the...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Hunter la5, I started mine on 9-16-13 and have been watching the fruits start to fall! I changed a little bit in the recipe but per your description I should be racking soon. I understand the OP does not call for it, but I have not done it and want to try. I bought the siphon kit and everything...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Fermentation has slowed dramatically but there are still bubbles going on in there and small bits of the fruits have started falling!

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

So, I topped it up this morning. You can see just in a few minutes it made the yeast a bit more active...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Just doing a little journaling...I lifted the hood and saw lots of bubbles rising and some small sediments floating around. One chunk of orange looks like it was going up and down and revolving around the carboy. I think all is well and it smells of orange-ish something or another in the...

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

Oh I see...You are speaking about topping it off after racking?
  20. Q

    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I am not sure as I just started my first concoction and have not racked anything, but this might help alleviate oxygenation and stirring up the lees while racking. I just got mine in the mail today. - http://www.eckraus.com/1-gallon-siphon-kit.html
