Blonde Ale Golden Showers (Centennial Blonde with a little kick)

I have never experimented enough with hop additions and the same recipe to tell if it would matter, but this is certainly a decent recipe to experiment on (This is actually my 4th or so iteration of the recipe). I'll have to think about giving it a try next time to see if it makes a difference.

Blonde Ale Golden Showers (Centennial Blonde with a little kick)

I'm not sure how I even put 164 as I actually meant 156! Sorry about that, I'll change it now.

Blonde Ale Golden Showers (Centennial Blonde with a little kick)

I would still consider myself a fairly noobish brewer, but the way I understand it is if you want to add more bitterness from the hops, it goes at the beginning of the boil, if you want to add more flavor from the hops, they go around the 15 minutes remaining mark, and if you want to add more...

Blonde Ale Golden Showers (Centennial Blonde with a little kick)

This is my take on the Centennial Blonde recipe. I really like Centennial Blonde but I wanted something with just a little bit more flavor, in both the malt, and the hop department. The addition of the 60L does make the beer a tad darker, becoming more golden than blonde. 7.00 lb Maris Otter...

    Belgian Dubbel Simple dubbel

So I was playing with my water profile for the first time, and I must have made a mistake because my mash effeciency took a major dive. I can usually hit 80%, but only hit 63% this time. Og was 1.056. It'll still be (hopefully tasty) beer, but I'm slightly disappointed to be this low.

    Belgian Dubbel Simple dubbel

At what point do you add the candi syrup?

    Belgian Dubbel Simple dubbel

Alright, thank you. I was considering adding the 4oz Special B mentioned previously. Do you guys think this would work with the 550 as well? I've never used it before.

    Belgian Dubbel Simple dubbel

So my LHBS didn't have wlp 530 and I grabbed wlp550, also they don't carry Castle grains so I got Dingemans. Anyone know how it will turn out with the Wlp550?

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I don't know if you saw an earlier post I made in this thread, but I've also changed the flavor hops schedule as well. I'm now doing the following: .5 centennial (60) .25 centennial (10) .25 cascade (10) .25 centennial (5) .25 cascade (5) .25 centennial (flameout) .25 cascade...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

So I did this recipe again and switched our the pale 2-row for maris otter, that plus my modified hops schedule and this beer is nearly perfect. For a 5.5 gallon batch I had also increased the bittering hop to .50 oz, and next time I'm going to back that down the by about 25%. That with the...

    American Amber Ale Mojave Red

Sweet was the wrong word to use, I guess hitting 1.051, when it should have been 1.060 for original gravity surprised me.

    American Amber Ale Mojave Red

Hey guys, I tried to scale this recipe up to 5.5 gallons using Brewsmith and failed somewhere at it, as I had only a 1.051 OG. (hit 1.010 FG) Here's what Beersmith gave me: 9.60 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 86.7 % 0.40 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 2 3.6 % 0.40...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

So here's the latest version of this recipe I did. I didn't cold crash or use gelatin. I did use clarity ferm, and had it sit in the keg for awhile.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

So I finally kegged the version I did of this with the following modified hop schedule: 0.5 oz Centennial (60) 0.25 oz Centennial (15) 0.25 oz Cascade (15) 0.25 oz Centennial (5) 0.25 oz Cascade (5) 0.25 oz Centennial (flameout) 0.25 oz Cascade (flameout) It turned out very well. I'm not a...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I did the recipe once already and it came out fantastic, but a little less hoppy then I prefer my beers, so I just brewed a second time with these changes to the hop schedule: .5 oz Centennial 60 min .25 Centennial 15 min .25 Cascade 15 min .25 Centennial 5 min .25 Cascade 5 min...

    Sweet Stout Deception Cream Stout

Temperature control is fine. I was using an oxygen tank and diffusion stone for the first time with this batch and didn't give it enough oxygen, so I'm pretty sure that's why the krausen was so smell. Oh well, it'll still be (decent) beer when it's all done.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

It was at 1.006, seemed reasonably clear, and tasted damn fine, so I went for it and bottled. Here's hoping for no bottle bombs! This is now my third brew I've bottled, and I've learned that bottling ~5 gallons at a time is getting old fast. Time to start investing in kegs.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I should have added, I used Wyeast 1056. I read a few replies that said that needed a little longer to finish fermenting.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I'll be stopping at the LHBS to pick up some corn sugar and extra bottles on the way home.

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

I've made through around 200 pages of this post. Some people are saying they bottled/kegged after 9 days, some are saying wait 2 weeks (or longer). I'll be bottling. Is 9 days in primary really long enough for this recipe?
