Texas DFW Comp: Labor of Love 09/04 @ DEBC

I entered 3 beers as well. Saison (won gold last year, this year it's slightly different), IPA, and Belgian quad. I don't have much left of the IPA, and the saison is all gone. I don't know if I'll bring the quad to pour or not yet.

    Martin House Riverside Shootout

Other than a higher than expected boil-off, everything went great yesterday. That was a ton of fun. Pitched the yeast when I got home last night, and fermentation was already going strong when I left for work this morning.

Brewing For Events - A Guide

We do it every year. We live on a cul-de-sac, so it helps get kids to come down our street if we're sitting out on the driveway (our house is on the corner, so we can get their attention as the walk down the street).

Brewing For Events - A Guide

Good tips! As for the open container thing, I don't think so, but it probably depends on the state. Here in Texas, I know that when transporting beer for competitions and festivals, I'm technically supposed to have a "bill of lading" for my homebrew.

Brewing For Events - A Guide

Yeah, I probably underestimated in the article. It really depends on the crowd, and the person organizing the event will know best what his/her guests' drinking habits are. For mine, one 5 gallon keg was just right for the ~40 people who were there. It ran out later that night (it was...

It's really rough, but I'll get it up on Google Docs this week and post a link here.

Yeah, typo on my part. That should be 500 beers. I'll get them to correct it! I'll work on getting the Excel calendar on Google Docs. It's pretty rough, though, I find errors all the time and fix them as they come up.

Brewing For Events - A Guide

Very nice! I haven't had to brew that much for an event yet, and mine was one that didn't need any conditioning really, so I didn't have nearly the number of challenges you have had.

    Martin House Riverside Shootout

When is everyone's start times? I'm in the 11am group. I'm doing a Rye Belgian IPA with about 25% rye malt, using Falconer's Flight and Cascade hops, and MH's saison blend. Did a test batch a couple of months ago (used WLP590) and it's one of the best beers I've made, I think. Hopefully it...

    Dallas - Brew Riot 05/15/2016

Wish I could! That's a drill weekend for me, though. I'll be at Martin House's Riverside Shootout on April 24th, though. I'm in the 11am start time.

    Blue Bonnet Brew Off 2016

My saison got an average of 39 in round 1, but only 32.5 in round 2. Oh well. Got really good feedback on my quad. It wasn't complex enough for the judges, but both sheets had a comment that it was well made.

    Blue Bonnet Brew Off 2016

I'm gonna try to make it out tomorrow at least for the awards ceremony! Good luck everyone (unless your beer is competing with mine!!) :-)

    Just moved to Dallas area

Dallas Homebrew (aka Fine Vine Wines or The Winemaker's Toy Store) should be pretty close to you, then! I've never had a bad experience there. I've been using Baron's Brew Works in Denton more now that it's open, though, since I work in Denton and it's more convenient, but I still go to DHB...

    Martin House Riverside Shootout

Anyone participating this year? They'll provide as much 2-row as you need, and you can bring other base grains, plus any specialty grains you might want to use. Hops will also be provided, as will yeast. The hops they'll have are Columbus, Chinook, Cascade, Sorachi Ace, Falconer’s Flight...

    Just moved to Dallas area

Welcome to the area! Hope your house-hunting goes well. I've seen houses popping up on the market in our neighborhood well over what they were just 2 years ago. It's crazy out there!

    Blue Bonnet Brew Off 2016

Got two beers bottled from kegs last night, and kegged my best bitter. Kegging the dark mild this weekend, hopefully those both with be carbonated (should be, since both styles are low carbed beers) in the next week so I can get them turned in before next Sunday when I leave for two weeks up at...
