Help. Second Brew...in over my head?

Not really directly related to the subject but, just a few handy tips, I work at Home Depot, and I came across some useful items that you may go through often enough to save you a few bucks here and there as opposed to paying the Markup at your local Brew store. All your clear vinyl hoses are...

    Bubbling in the Primary

I also keep a bottle of 100 proof cheap Vodka down in my Brew room, goes in my airlock, gets used on little cotton pads for last minute sterile wipe downs like when i've already sanitized something but am worried I handled it too much, even some gargling before siphoning ;) .......Relax have a...

    Wort Oxygenation

for what its worth, the owner of the local homebrew store told me, wort oxygenation is only needed if you are using liquid yeast, dry yeast is pre oxygenated and won't benefit from adding more to the wort, but liquid yeast will take right off with the oxygenation.

Ice, I know I know, But read

I've had my eye on this freezable paddle thing called a Rapi-kool which I saw in a local restaurant supply store (great for getting homebrew gear) its a clear blue plastic paddle shaped bottle that you fill with water and freeze then use to stir your wort (originally made for gravy and soup) to...

    Time to panic?

I think thats because a good number of us has read Charlie Papazian who always says "Relax, Don't worry, Have a homebrew"

    Initiated

I had considered myself lucky on my first batch, cooked up nice didnt lose a drop, got it in the primary, had a good fermentation, clean on over to the secondary, sittin at about 1.013 for a couple days will bottle soon. So bought an extra Carboy a few days ago and tried my hand at a second...

    Success...

on average how many 12 ounce bottles are you guys getting out of a 5 gallon batch? I know this will vary depending on draw offs and blow offs etc. but just a ball park figure so I know about how many bottles to get, I was thinking 48 plus what I have laying around from what I drank.

    First Batch

I'll be glad to try it, enjoying some Fat Tire tonight, tried an IPA for the first time, from widmere Brothers, but don't care for it, too bitter and Hoppy.

    First Batch

Well my first batch (an Amber Ale) went into the primary glass carboy on the 15th with a 1.037 OG, yesterday after I made sure the foam was gone and most of the yeast had settled I racked it to the secondary and it read a 1.015 gravity. I was gonna let it sit a week, take a couple consecutive...

    First Time here.

I agree a bed frame is a cheap price to pay to keep my beer stock to myself, she doesnt even like it, much less the brewing process. the Primary fermenter has cleared on top (looks like swamp water as someone else said, and not that flat pancake of foam) so within the next day or two (when I can...

    Overpressured bottles

i'm new here but one of the tips I saw if bottling alone, after adding the priming sugar stir your batch from top to bottom every six bottles you fill or so. to keep the sugar consistent.

First Batch is in the Fermenter!!!

I cooked mine outside on the glass porch table with a small gas camp burner, wasnt the swiftest but was equal to my neighbors inside gas stove (boils in 15-20 minutes) and i'm not even going to attempt it on my electric stove. I had my primary fermenter inside covered but the temperature...

    First Time here.

Thanks Sam, My second batch will for sure have that 6.5 Carboy involved in it, I figure I can never have too many carboys. especially since i'm planning on experimenting with Mead and Wine later on.

    First Time here.

Howdy, I had been contemplating starting my own homebrewing now for a couple years but never took the leap, I always would spy the MrBeer kits from afar and ponder the wonders of it, but thankfully moved next door to a neighbor that had a real homebrew kit, so eventually I moseyed over to the...
