    School me on Brut/Gluco additions

Everything said above is spot on so nothing to add there (other than liquid being more consistent, which I have not found but do not question anothers' experience). I'll add another thought just because I think this style does better in the 6.5 - 7 range especially when sun 1.00. You can brew...

In the market for a new fermenter

Of the mentioned options I only have experience with the brewbucket and I am not sure why you can't bottle with it? I only keg but the general process should be the same. I ferment in it and have my airlock hooked to purge my keg, then when kegging add light pressure and transfer to the clean...

    Cleaning/Maintenance of a 10+ gal System

I had a plumber here doing some misc work so while he was here I had him pipe hot water into the outdoor spigot to help with refinishing the skating rink I put in this winter. An amazing side benefit has been cleaning my Homebrew equipment with hot water in the yard. Makes the whole process so...

    Kicked keg CO2 uses

I don't know it's the best description I can think of. Very highly hopped in whirlpool and dry hop with traditional neipa hops, but dried out with gluco.

    Kicked keg CO2 uses

I fill my kegs with starsan and push to another clean keg via fermentation c02. When I go to fill the purged kegs I use an empty keg or 2 from the kegerator (when available) that is full of dispensing c02 and refill as needed from the tank to push all 10g. I used to have a 5lb tank and pushed...

    Kettle clearance

10g kettle. If you buy the smaller one, you will end up kicking yourself when you upgrade the kettle in 6 months.

New England IPA Blasphemy - No Boil NEIPA

I transfered a version of this to the keg this morning and I've sampled a couple times tonight and I am very impressed. I rarely if ever use extract because I just never have good results but I decided to make water adjustments and see if that helps out, and I'm not sure if it was the...

    Bag vs Basket

I'm surprised so many think a basket is hard to rinse. If outside the hose takes 10 seconds. If inside the sink sprayer takes 30 seconds. With a basket it's no problem to turn the element on or off as needed if doing electric.

BRUT IPA: What is your favorite aroma hop?

My logic for the combo pitch is to potentially get some biotransformation without a super extended dry hop. Second is to scrub oxygen from the dry hop addition. This coupled with closed transfer into purged kegs (newly using fermentation co2 - pic attached) has made for super stable beers...

BRUT IPA: What is your favorite aroma hop?

I love mosaic but I would blend it with something, and cut the DH down big time. My personal brut per 6gal has around 4.5 oz of a 3 hop mix for WP (180ish) and a DH of 3 to 4 oz after pre gluco fg is hit. Then gluco and DH at the same time. For mix nothing beats mosaic and centennial for me...

    What hop am I missing?

I mix every IPA hop blend with centennial. My standard pale ale is 50/50 centennial and mosaic. My brut ipas are a mix of 3 hops, centennial is always one and the others are a.combo of: mosaic, citra, Galaxy, El dorado, newly trying out Idaho 7. Galaxy has to be used VERY lightly for my...

    Babysitting the Brew pump

I currently do not use a brew pump and I am curious as to others experience on the need to babysit the pump during the Brew day. I switched over to an electric single vessel brew in a basket a bit under a year ago and I notice a decent difference between measured temp on the top vs the bottom...

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I am pretty new to smoking, I have made maybe 5 brisket flats some chicken wings and St Louis ribs. For those smoking the Chuck, are you crutching, rubbing like a brisket, what temp are you pulling it at?

    Dernord elements

It's what I use. Works well so far with around 8 batches brewed with it. Mine looks a little different - the only knock I have is the twist lock connection is a bit loose (there is a small gap). I usually cover with a wide strip of electrical tape or wedge the cord so it pushes in tight.

Fermfast Glucoamylase vs White Labs Ultra Ferm for Brut?

I have used fermfast with great success (in fermenter). Lhbs was out last weekend so had to pay 5x the price for whitelabs. I am adding tomorrow (one week post pitch and with the dry hops). Will report back. Typically I add around 1.010 and within a day it's 1.00 add next day .996. that's...

What's your traditional IPA fermentation/dry hop schedule?

To add on my timeline. My pale ale was always a 3 week then keg schedule which was perfect for me (what I've done with standard ipas too). Recent brut IPA was 1 week "primary' 1 week with glucoamylase and dry hops, keg after 2 weeks and it was great after 1 day on 45psi. .
