Any brewers In the Suffolk area of England?

Still around. Still brewing. Go here: http://waterquality.anglianwater.com/map.aspx Put in your postcode and you should get a full water report to include the Magnesium. To get bicarbonate, multiply the number for calcium carbonate by 1.22.

Haven't brewed in a while. Drinking less to lose weight, so I haven't been on the board much to resist the temptation. If I have nothing else going on, I may be able to make the drive out that way to Beautiful Beers.

    St. Louis stops?

Can't believe no one mentioned the best, Schlafly. Their restaurant, The Bottleworks, is amazing. Then there is Perennial, Square One, Alpha, 2nd Shift.

Top 5 things I wish I knew when I first started homebrewing.

Great article Jeff. As a relatively new brewer, I agree with everything you've said and reading this a year ago would have saved me a lot of time. The Fermcap is new to me, but it will definitely be on my next order.

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

I wish! I'm living in England and this was during the fall / winter.

Mine was also in the aroma; however, it was so overpowering that I couldn't drink it. After sitting in the keg a couple months and then dry-hopped with Amarillo, it become drinkable and somewhat tasty.

Giving this another shot this week. First AG recipe I did was this, but when I brewed it a second time it ended up reeking of cat piss. Haven't touched Citra in a homebrew since, but it's one of my favorite hops in commercial brews. Anyone else have the catty issue with this? Thinking of subbing...

Any brewers In the Suffolk area of England?

Working backwards here... Welcome to the UK. I'm also an AG brewer, been doing so for a bit over a year. I'm at RAF Molesworth, so a bit aways from the rest of you, but I'm very interested in getting a club-like thing started. I would have no issue hosting, but I'm a good 45-60 mins from all of...

I have a US regulator. I bought this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Co2-Regulator-Replacement-Stem-Nut-and-Washer-R45-/151151451261?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2331541c7d) and switched out the nut on it with the one on the US regulator. The stems aren't the same size, but an extra silicone...

Interested in the temp controller and parts if I could use it in my fermentation chamber.

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Thanks for the response. Glad yours turned out great and the batch with blueberries sounds awesome. I feel a lot better now, but planned on letting this ride a few months no matter what. Thought it would be something great to have on tap in the spring.

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Patrick, I'm curious how yours turned out. I also just made my first batch of Apfelwein, following EdWorts recipe exactly, except I used two gallons of Treetop Cider rather than Apple Juice because the store ran out. I'm stationed overseas and very limited to what I have access to. Used...

Plastic bottles used as mini kegs

Very nice write-up. Love seeing homebrewer create their own devices. It appears you enoy this, which is most important, so this isn't meant to critisize. Oxygenation is definitely real, but I believe you don't experience it since you are only tapping 2 litres at a time. I'm betting it doesn't...
