    Hello from SE Kentucky

New to brewing with 2 extracts and 1 partial extract under my belt. Have to say the partial extract is probably the best yet! Next batch will be brewed next Sunday with Wyeast ale. So far have only used Coopers ale yeast. We shall see!

    What are you drinking now?

Don't have to do that anymore! But with the new grand baby, I probably will.

American Porter Thirsty Dog Ol' Leghumper Clone

Brewed this a month ago and bottled last week. Used 3 corn sugar drops for each 32 oz Grolsch bottle. Fantastic after only a week of aging! Can't give you IBU's, but my OG was spot on and my final was 1.023. Poured with a finger of thick mocha colored head. And left a nice lacing on the glass...

    Thirsty Dog Ol' Leghumper Clone

Well, I brewed my first partial extract. A clone of Ol' Leghumper by Thirsty Dog Brewery. Can't quite remember where I got the recipe (it's a gooood porter!) lmao. It's only been bottle aging for a week and already fantastic! Can't wait 'til it's aged a couple of months.

Brewing a Thirsty Dog Ol' Leghumper clone

Finished steeping and at the boil now. Very good color and consistency. Not bad for my first time using grains, if I do say so, myself. Guess I'll find out for sure when I get it cooled down enough to do a gravity test!

Any benefit to leaving beer in fermenter longer?

I just bottled my Coopers Lager after 10 days in the fermenter. My OG was 1035 and my FG 1011. I fermented at 24C on the thermo strip that came with the kit. My gravity was consistent for 2 days and my brew was clear, no clarifier necessary. Will find out in 13 days how it tastes. Cheers!
