    Something wrong with these SCOBYs?

sweet, Kombucha online :) Ive had some thin wispy ones before, and thought they were dead, but I found you can put em in a mason jar with a cloth over it and give em a 1/4 cup dose of cane sugar, then stick em someplace warm and safe, forget about them for a week or two and they seem to heal...

    Cheerios Yeast Starter!

It seems to start up faster if I "wake" the little buggers up before I plop em in there. They get more vigorous sooner, and the faster the yeast can take over the wort, the less likely something else can take hold and give "off" flavors. I usually just set it up an hour or two before I...

then I ought to be ok then, I sorted through and tossed out any clumps, but Im sure theres still traces of it. Malting at home? experimental brew.

The brew fairy donated 14 lbs of 6 row local organic winter barley to me this weekend. He said no catch, just let me know how it turns out. Ive done some reading, and a bit of research online, and it sounds pretty darn easy to malt my own.. I lost about a pound rinsing, lots of bugs, stalk...

    grapefruit seed extract?

I found that some hospitals use GSE (grapefruit seed extract) for a sanitizer, it kills things bleach wont touch, really expensive, but a tiny bit goes a long way, like a few drops for a carboy. Ive been useing it for a while now, and no spoilage. anybody else tried it yet?
