    carbs = 4 calories per gram protein = 4 calories per gram fat = 9 calories per gram alcohol = 7 calories per gram It doesn't matter the source, all calories count the same when it comes to being "fattening".

    I've been reading through a lot of this thread and there is really some great information here. Has there been talk about pitch rate somewhere earlier in this thread? For a 5 gallon batch of cider at around 1.060, is an 11g pack of dry yeast like S-04 a typical pitch rate? Also, do I need to...

    Yeast arrived warm...

    I had the same thing about a week ago, except I was already planning on making a starter. The starter took off fine and fermentation in the primary was also going fine only 3 hours after pitching.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

    I'm brewing a 5 gallon batch of Special Bitter tomorrow morning. It will be my first AG batch. Wish me luck!
